Default Things you've done that are surprisingly un-SA

This might be a good way of drawing attention to our more outgoing sides. Have you ever done anything such as:

1.Gone naked in public.
2.Sung in front of an audience.
3.Given a wedding speech.
4.Done stand up comedy.
5.Done a solo on the dance floor

The most un-SA things I have done where when I was a child. Now as an adult I can shape my life to avoid things I don't want to do which is probably why I am often so miserable. That's an interesting thing - I couldn't wait to have the freedom of being an adult but in fact I am less free because I am free to avoid everything.

Yes to 1 & 5........All induced by alcohol I may add. ........

Although I would like to cover the other three, and there's a chance I could coz these are the kinds of things that are planned at the Manchester Social Practice Group [three cheers for Ady and Nicole. lol]...........

I'm also gonna be a best man in October, apparently. .....I've no doubt that I could construct a decent speech, but can't guarantee that it won't break down in tears. lol

I've sung in public, but it was at a football match.

Under the influence of alcohol, I've done the solo dancing in the midst of a group of people forming a circle and you get to strut your stuff!! In a crowded dancefloor I've also once been kajoled into dancing on a table with a girl with the whole dancefloor watching (certainly felt like it!)...that was surprisingly good fun!

My answers...

1. No - but I would love to - one of my ambitions, strangely. I would really like to be comfortable enough in myself to be naked in front of someone else - and this isn't a sexual thing at all...

2. Yes - don't mind doing this if I've rehearsed the song

3. Nope - but wouldn't mind if I had it written down

4. Not intentionally ;-)

5. Never even been on a dance floor in my life :-(

1. Given a presentation and enjoyed it. (Yes I know, I'm sick and twisted)

2. Jumped up on a stage in a pub after the band left.

I'm not gonna mention the stuff I've done whilst drunk, because thats cheating.

I've done karaoke but I had had a few drinks and even then found it excruciatingly embarrassing also I was the first to ride the bucking pig at a works barbecue some years back but again I'd had a few drinks.

i've been in a gigging band. this included singing, playing guitar solos, etc.

best live experiences were in the period during which i played the drums, when people would come up afterwards and say they liked my playing

I've done a number of things that are quite suprising non SA activities. With me it greatly depends on my mood at the time and if i'm in a happy, confident, mood then the SA isn't so crippling.

Same here. But with me, it's more "binary" in that either the SA is on or off.

So some days I walk to work with a spring in my step believing I can conquer the world.

Others I mope into work dragging my feet and convinced everyone is watching me.

However, there are some things (and invite to the pub, or someone saying something I think may be directed at me) which immediately switch me from the former mood into the latter with an ease which is unpleasant.

I few years ago I got sick of doing nothing just because I'm on my own, so I decided to go out there and do stuff. I started going to yoga, I went three times a week! Looking back I'm still kinda amazed. I went into a new environment, with new people and did something I had never done before. Crazy. Nowadays, despite the fact that I want to go, wild horses couldn't drag me there.

Mmmm........I may have something called social anxiety, but in the right company I'm also a right posin B'stard! lol

Plus, I think most days I find it easier to perform in a play than have a 'normal' conversation.........But I've heard this is the case with most poetic geniuses.

I've given presentations and enjoyed it and I'm not sick or twisted ... I think.:confusedp

I also enjoy dancing - even when I'm the only one on the floor.

i was gonna say something like that, i have heard of "russian piano syndrome"...the stereotype that they are no slouches!

being in a band was cool in some ways and crap in others. other band members would be sitting talking to their friends before the gig - guess what i'd do?
