Is this a bit weird

I had agoraphobia a few years ago- so as a result I do have a lack of (well, nearby) friends.
On a dating site there's a girl - I got no attraction to - but is looking for new friends. Is it artificial to make friends via this path?
Like is friends something you just make. Whereby person looking for friend, meets person looking for friend is trying to force a situation?

I say try it, if you aren't compatible things will just fizzle out, if you're compatible then you've made a good friend

I find it happens on here, some people i message i find i have nothing in common with and things just seem to grind to a halt, but occasionally you'll get lucky and find someone you hit it off with. Its all a numbers game
