Listening to what sounds like some frantic activity from my usually very quiet downstairs neighbour. I hear a motor of some sort (probably hoover), bangs, thuds, this and that. Seems to be in one room and then another. I do hope she's not preparing to move out. The longer she's there the higher the possibility though, add in the turbulence of the rent market. I will cry if it's so - won't get another one like her.

^^ Yes, Angela, it's a real worry, i've been so lucky with the two i've had here since moving back. The first was a guy who was mostly quiet except for the odd occasion where he'd play some music - which is tolerable and it wasn't loud. When he left i was thrown into the torment of not knowing and i feared the worst but the new (and current) neighbour is exceptionally quiet. No music, can't hear tv, rarely hosts, nothing unusual, no coming and goings on late in the night etc. Let's hope you get the same

^ Yes, very possibly!

Maybe a Post You Painted Toenails thread might work.

I'm in my 50s and I've noticed my big toenails have started to look particularly unsightly with lines running down them. I've found myself wondering if nail varnish would improve their appearance. Do heterosexual men in their 50s paint their toenails? Does L'Oreal do a range for middle aged men? Am I having a midlife crisis? How do people react to 50 year old men with scarlet toenails? I don't know the answers to these questions.

Wondering whether anyone else is aware that we have 'glow bugs' in this country.... ? I've just got back from a walk and seen two of them. The first one i thought was an electronic device of some sort with it's LED glowing in the grass verge - maybe someone dropped a phone or something. It was only when i looked closer and noticed it was a bugs arse end. I never knew we had them. Then a bit further on i spotted a second! They're fairly large ish in size too. Didn't seen them flying, just hanging out in the growth.

^ you made me Google 'glow bugs UK'. Apparently there aren't any fireflies in the UK, but only glow worms and they don't fly.

Must have been really cool to see!

So if these colours are numbered 1 to 5.
And if your toes are 1 to 5 starting from your big toe.

I'm gonna guess you've applied them as
5 4 3 2 1

How many colours have I got right?

Haha, yes, i did my own search and found out that they are a thing and fairly common too, especially this time of year (maybe only this time of year?). It was quite bizarre because i've walked many a time at night for many years and i'm certain i've never seen them before. And two on the same night!

I'm wondering whether i should tell my downstairs neighbour that i'm about to use a carpet cleaner vacuum thing. I've borrowed one from work and i've no idea how loud it is but i think the idea is to go over the carpet quite thoroughly, over and over. My carpets a mess and i was planning on really going at it too.

Sitting in my car putting off buying a ticket for a silly amount of time because it's an old ticket machine at this car park and doesn't take card and last time it wouldn't work and a man ended up helping me and I felt really stupid.
Also there's lots of mums around yelling at their small children which is making me anxious.
I don't like listening to aggression, even when it's got nothing to do with me.

It was ok thanks, Clums
The parking meter has no written instructions to follow, but I just kept pressing the green button and it did work! Plus it was £1 for 4 hours parking, which was unexpected, I'd taken a purse full of change
It was worth going, I had a nice walk and (I think) made a new friend. I had to walk a long way around to meet up with her to avoid some day time drunks on a bench, but I managed.

That's lovely, Merry. I love it when the ending makes all the rubbish that comes with the build up all worth while.

*take that social anxiety!*
