will you be watching?

what sports will you be watching?

I will definitely be watching the tennis hoping Murray can go one better

Jamie and Andy are playing in the doubles together

Chris Hoy in the cycling

may watch the football just for a laugh (it will be interesting to see how many tickets are sold for the Hampden matches!)

I only watch the 100m final tbh. I think Usain Bolt has his work cut out this time due another Jamaican, whose name escapes me, being faster.

Yohann Blake. I think he beat him in the 100 and 200m in Jamaican championships.

I usually only watch the athletics and maybe a bit of the boxing and basketball, I have mixed feelings about watching the tennis and football as it feels a bit wrong. I can't really be doing with all the other stuff.

I'm not watching any shooting, archery, tennis or football out of principle. Will probably watch everything else.

I'll watch what I can and be rooting for Team GB all the way.

Don't tend to watch things like archery, shooting, footy, tennis or gymnastics. The martial arts are exciting for me, as is the cycling and athletics.

Tbh I think it's better watching it on TV than going to it IRL - get to see more. Though I imagine the atmosphere would be awesome.

I'll watch bits of the Olympics here and there. I'll make sure I watch the track and field events and the hockey too. Although I love football it doesn't feel right at the Olympics, probably just watch the GB games. I'm guessing there will be alot of different events going on at the same time but using the red button on the BBC is so tedious I don't think i'll bother.

Probably wont bother with the Equestrian, Gymnastics or Wrestling but anything Britain has a chance in Ill drop in on. Ive got a good feeling about our chances this time around. Hopefully well do well in the Cycling, Rowing and Sailing again and put some good showings in the other major sports.

I've heard it said that the Olympics would be more interesting if, for every event, you had an average participant, so that, by contrast, you could see how good all the athletes really are. I would like to go a step further and have national hero Brian Blessed enter every single event. This would make for the greatest Olympics yet. I'll watch it anyway but I'll be slightly disappointed if he's not there.

God no, unless you're talking wrestling or they decide to introduce darts, or laughing contests.

Nineo, sorry to disappoint, but you have the wrong Olympics. No natural snow ski slopes in London to the best of my knowledge, (curling is a winter Olympics sport) not that I'm very knowledgeable mind you.

There's talk of Danny Boyle recreating a country scene including artificial rain. The artificial rain part is a complete waste of money.

Custom_fusion-lqx should become a politician.

I've got a better one Ubyse. Removed from captaincy after sleeping with team mate's wife thereby forcing coach to remove team mate from team. Racially slur team mate's brother thereby force that team mate out of team -injury? Yeah right! Universally praise for being the nation's best defender. God help the nation.

I won't be watching beach volleyball out of principle. The principle of good taste......!

They should include those big rockets in the opening ceremony, it would be infinitely more entertaining. Support the troops and all that.

For two reasons mainly. These sports tend to have very strong internal championships organised by their respective governing bodies, leading to the perception that it is of greater merit to participate and be victorious in these rather than at the Olympics, unlike athletics, where an Olympic title is the greatest accolade in the sport. In football at the Olympics, I believe teams can only consist of mostly players under the age of 23 with three over 23s. Olymipcs were traditionally open only for amateurs, and the highly paid highly professional nature of football and tennis is somewhat at odds with this tradition. However professionals in an array of sports are now allowed to participate, so football and tennis no longer stand out in that respect .

How about that bit in Trainspotting when they all go hiking in the Scottish country side

Yep the 3000 troops that are there now.

Does anyone else fear that they will all need to be used? Especially if you travel every day in London

I will be watching the opening ceremony and then the Taekwondo.

And when they are being used, 2 Olympic coaches were lost for 4 hours even with the big Olympic lane signs.

Apart from the sprints in athletics (always a good spectacle) I'll only be taking an interest in the events which are over quite quickly and at which GB are competing for medals, mainly some athletics, cycling, rowing, boxing and swimming. Not that interested in sports which last a long time like hockey, badminton, tennis (won't bother getting my hopes up over Murray again), basketball etc. That said, I'll probably watch GB football matches to see what the future might hold for the England team.

Ah I love the Olympics My problem is there is far too much to watch. I managed to fill up my hard drive last time with recordings. I'll be watching the biggies like Athletics and Gymnastics, but what I really like about the Olys is the chance to watch the lesser sports that don't get much coverage; Wrestling, Judo, Boxing and Weightlifting

I think I'll watch archery, javelin, hammer throw, bit of the running, gymnastics, maybe some wrestling, discus, long jump. That's about all I'm interested in.

I think the opening ceremony is basically someone riding round on a bmx. I bet it's going to be shit, I'd like it to be good though.

I watched most of the Judo. I know it's a way off yet, but I'm really looking forward to Taekwondo now. Managed to watch some rowing and swimming too; happy enough with Team GB there. Disappointed about the cycling/road race though.

I thought it was only Grand Slams where they played 5 anyways.

I've just been to see the men's cycle road race. Very special, great atmosphere. Good to feel part of it. Shame GB couldn't catch the lead group. Gold for Kazakhstan!
