Default At what age did you start to "feel old"

At what age did you start to feel as though you are becoming or have become old
Was it exactly at 30 or somewhere later on ?

I don't feel old. I do feel a little out of touch sometimes, but thats not age. Just like my fatigue isn't age, but part of my condition.

When I got my first grey hair at 27. Somedays I feel old, but just tell myself it's bollocks (because at 31, it is).

From asking people about it, it seems we won't feel much different mentally at 71 than 21. I'll reserve judgement until I get there.

Depression and upset has made me feel me about 110 in the past.

The 'milestone' birthdays are often occasion for feeling the weight of the years but you get over them. I felt younger in my early thirties than my late twenties and getting to my early forties was not as traumatic as reaching forty itself. However, my next biggy is fifty and it's less than five years away. Shouldn't I have grown up by now?

I felt old at 21 too, probably because it was a milestone and i'd achieved nothing. Now i look around 25-30 even though i'm 38 and emotionally feel like a 6yr old looking for mummy in the supermarket. I'm not looking forward to 40, probably feel old again

I got very depressed and anxious about getting older when I was 19. As I've got older though it's bothered me less and less. I think to most people 'old' is probably about 10 years older than they are at present!

I first felt old when I was 13. I really didn't want to grow up and become a teenager and have a rough time like my brother did. My teenage years ended up being even worse than his.

I'm now 30 and happier about the aging process as it happens a lot slower than it did in your teens when you go from being a sweet child to an awkward depressive within about 2 years.

40, after that it's downhill. Wrinkles, more grey hair to dye.

I've always felt nostalgic, melancholy and 'old' and I probably felt these things more acutely as a child strangely enough.

I felt like I was beginning to get old at 20/21 but tbh I truly felt like I was beginning to age now at 23. Its a totally different feeling of knowing your beginning to age. Its kinda annoying when you still look young but you feel the age at the same time.

I think knowledge wise I still got room for development but by only a few years possibly. I dont feel the same decay yet as I do in the rest of my body. Though wisdom can replace the decay I guess.

I feel childish in a way in which I approve of in my own head though. Something I am proud of but probably ganna be put down about most my life. Though I dont care that much and am proud to feel good about my personality on a personal level.

Since I turned 30 I turned a new lease of life and started going out and enjoying myself more. However it might be catching up with me I am getting aches and pains I never knew I could get!

Thinking about it the first time I ever felt old was when I saw Michael Owen on TV playing one of his first games and he was only 16-17. I myself was 18 and I couldn't believe that a top professional footballer was older than me

Probably around 45, i.e. a couple of years ago. That's rather late - I think most people would start thinking about aging a lot earlier than that, I mean some people are freaked out when they hit 30. That seems pretty young to me now. I'd still consider people to be young into their mid-late 30s, but about 37/38 seems to be heading towards the big 40, so I'd say that's when you are to consider yourself as being older.

You know you're getting on when you are older than the actor playing Dr Who, and also the Prime minister.

It's not something to worry about unduly. If you are aiming for a telegram from the Queen at 100 you have years to go yet, not even halfway there. Assuming one's health holds up, and you don't mind the odd minor sign of the passing of time (i.e. paler coloured hair, odd ache & pain etc) then it's all to play for. I'd rather be older and happy than younger and unhappy. Hopefully one day I will be older and happy.

I don't feel old in that sense of the word..I'm 33 in a coupla months and I feel like a kid still....I've done many things at a young age (20's) that many in their 30's 40's and maybe even 50's haven't done.

Apart from the odd ache - I don't feel any older than I did 20 years ago - I'm 41 now. What can be scary is how quickly the years go by. It still feels like it should be the early 1990s...
