It was out and about, wandering aimlessly on the pavement, so i told the person who i was delivering to next about it and kinda hinted that something should be done. They got a box and took it away somewhere safe (don't know where, i left them to it). It's interesting cos when i showed them where it was it had just slumped, sleeping(?) on the floor - we assumed that it might've been in hibernation mode (maybe it had been woken from the place it had originally settled).

( wtf)

Yeah, anyplace is better than the pavement. There isn't a lot of traffic where it was but it was vulnerable and not really near any hidey holes, hedges or roughage. I'm glad it wasn't too difficult getting someone to take action - luckily her young daughter heard and got pretty enthusiastic about it. I suggested a box, then went and did my next parcel, turned around and they had just gotten it boxed up.

Aww, well done Spud

We've had a few in, theyve been too underweight or poorly to hibernate so we send them of to the wildlife hospital. But yeah yours sounds like it might have been disturbed.

Poor little mites. Are they alright to handle?

Are they all flea ridden?

We have big thick gloves to handle them. Though most of the time we let them be. There usually very scared.

Yes! they are.

We used to also use a uv blacklight to check for ringworm which can be quite common, the light makes the ringwork fluoresce (if that's the right word). But there quills can fluoresce for other reasons so we decided to leave it to the experts.

They really can glow in the dark under that light tho!

You did a good thing Spud.
I haven't seen a hedgehog for aaaaaages.

I wonder if it's to do with bonfire night, you always hear this time of year check your bonfires for any hedgehogs that may have taken up residence.
Are bonfires happening still?

Thanks, all

I saw earlier today the family who took care of the hedgehog - they said it slept for several hours before having some feed and water, then it became very active and started gnawing at the box it was in, so they took it outside into the garden to be released. They've had hedgehogs before, so.... it probably came from their garden originally (who knows). It should be okay. Not sure why they took it into their home... maybe to keep an eye on it...

Today I finally forced myself to apply for a new job.

For quite a while now I've been unhappy, very stressed and feeling taken advantage of at my current job, but the fear of starting over somewhere new and the (unreasonable) guilt at the idea of leaving has stopped me making any moves to leave. But today I finally applied for something interesting.

Not much I know, but still it feels good to do something beyond stewing and internally berating myself about it all lol.

If I would get the job or take it if offered it, is a different matter of course but that is a problem for future Paul :-D.

A few days ago but I got the confirmation from hr that I’ve been given a pay increase because my boss has been happy with my work this past year. I really wasn’t expecting it because the company hasn’t been making as much money since lockdown. It’s nice to know I’ve been doing a good enough job for such a reward.

I just went to the park and sat on a bench.

I am so uncomfortable in the park. I think cause I’m crap at football but am scared of people finding out that as a man I haven’t really learnt to kick a ball. But I was nervous in the park, I noticed how closed in I was. I have forgotten or don’t know how to play. I also noticed how alone I felt.

I think I should do it as a daily exposure.

Although I do see my situation as a result of my upbringing, with a mentality ill mum, distanced family, going to the park was also a reminder that my problems, especially now, are a result of not confronting my fears, lack of self acceptance as well.

^Thanks chuck.
I thought it was just me who dreads the idea of someone kicking a ball towards me, I’m not sure it’s a man thing, just a feeling not like the norm thing. I like the idea of doing sitting as a daily exposure, you get to sit and also feel like part of the world.

At last I've contacted someone to come and do some house-cleaning for me.
Haven't been well for a while, and some tasks were seeming very daunting.
The lady sounded pleasant and capable, and sympathetic.

Ha, where do i start with that question?! I'm struggling to find words. It's the usual thing when you begin somewhere afresh and you want to do so much and you've got ideas but you're fighting against the result of so many lived years of avoidance and inactivity.

The house-cleaner lady did a good job, walls, floors, and cupboard doors gleaming, and I was able to leave her to it rather than engage in conversation.
Took her a couple of hours.
I was so tired from "getting ready" for her (as you do) I ended up sleeping for an hour or two in the afternoon.

She's coming next week to do the outside windows.

Went to a deeper conversations Meetup where you ask people questions.
Was good although also nerving. Weirdly enough I didn’t find the bubbly person I spoke with overly intimidating. They were actually interesting to speak to but they probably found me boring.

Really not much of an achievement, but more of a personal achievement due to my circumstances.

Went for a run, without timing it. Actually was easier, I think the reduced mental pressure of not timing my run made me just run for the sake of running.

The achievement here is that I avoided another day of sitting at the computer and feeling bad and like no one likes me, I’m not a people’s person and stuff. It felt like running today also gave me a bit more sense of control. I’m gonna do more untimed running, though not bodybuilding it definitely has its benefits especially if I go kickboxing consistently.

So I keep bemoaning the fact I've been a massive twat, and a blind, slightly unhinged drunk is captain of my ship. But today I have worked my way through chapter 1 of the ACT book, 'Get Our of Your Mind and Into Your Life'. I had previously avoided it because there are a lot of exercises, it is work, but after having it hanging around for maybe two years, I am finally working on it. It looks less scary now, so that is progress.

I answered the door to the delivery man

Involved a very noisy intercom and a brief talk down the phone. No anxiety.

It helps that I'm slightly inebriated, knew what time they were coming and just destroyed the stupid vampires in Total Warhammer 2 lol

I still did it
