Re: Last podcast you listened to
A really good episode this one
A lot of good topics & info A quote that stuck out: 'Releasing shame is an anti depressant' https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas...=1000432431308 https://play.acast.com/s/distraction...roobiuspip-258 Johann Hari • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #258 Welcome, welcome, and once more, welcome, to episode 258 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! A very powerful deep dive into mental health and wellbeing, depression, symptoms and potential remedies with author of ‘Chasing The Scream’, ‘Lost Connections’ and more - it’s JOHANN HARI! “I keep thinking this about my book about depression, that in some ways, I feel like I’m giving people permission to know what they knew in their hearts all along” Pip is often asked if he’ll do a mental health special of the podcast. Well, the truth is, the subject comes up so often that the special itself is happening incrementally all the time. This time round we have an expert thinker and author on it all, who has been through it and has a lot of research to broaden our own thinking on it. Luckily Johann’s approach to speaking on topics is “Would my Nan understand it?”, so you won’t get lost with this one! Pip and Johann cover a huge amount of ground, from experience to anecdote to research, including how depression has increased annually since the early 80’s, how it’s not uncommon for some to not have anyone in their lives that knows them well, how our ways of life have changed but our biology hasn’t, our tribal instincts and how we need them to survive, social alternatives to chemical remedies, the shadow version of a book (the version that hasn’t been read) following around the real one when you’re an author, social media’s false impression of sociability, universal basic income, junk values, work and happiness, childhood trauma and WAY too much to even hint at here. It’s an engrossing one, which will have you thinking hard at the end - some very important nuggets to consider and definitely some very helpful wisdom and gold to enjoy. It’s not a bum-out listen either so don’t worry - all is positive and lightness. Listen, share, but most importantly communicate. Yes - in real life! |

^ I used to listen to scroobius pip ages ago, he's good, will have to check this one out.
I listen to just about any kind of podcast. Recently I've been listening to 'We're alive' which is a zombie apocalypse story. It's corny as hell but the huge cast and sound efffects people are really great, terribly addictive. |

Re: Last podcast you listened to
Just listened to today's episode of the NoSleep podcast which had elijah wood as a guest voice, marrying my guilty podcast pleasure with my embarrassing teenage crush.
Honestly though, while I'm not as obsessed with him as I was circa fellowship of the ring which I saw 11 times at the cinema, he does come across as a genuinely good egg. I mean being a child star and then later becoming so famous for LotR, he could have easily gone off the rails, but instead seems to have carved out his own weird nerdy niche. Apparently he has his own podcast too, Visitations, which sounds right up my street. http://https://art19.com/shows/visitations-with-elijah-wood-and-daniel-noah Quote:

I love a podcast
Russell Brand's Under the Skin, listened to half of the new one with Brene Brown. Was annoyed about him moving to the Luminary platform though and can't afford to pay to listen. This one he's uploaded for free to try and get people to sign up for a month free trial. Enjoying Teenage Mixtape with Joel Dommett at the moment as well. |

Re: Last podcast you listened to
Elis James & John Robins, are they the one's who do the 5live Friday afternoon slot? They've been going for about 3-4 weeks, really funny, far better than the knob who does mon-thurs. I've gone back to radio4 because of him.

Re: Last podcast you listened to
^ Yes!
It surprises me not that they elicit your funny bone If you liked the past 4 shows they've done, then here I offer you an archive of theirs going back literally years... From their Saturday show on Radio X : https://player.fm/series/elis-james-...odcast-2438202 I get where you're coming from re the weekday afternoon slot There isn't really any presenter around that can stop you from turning off these days I think it's now very much guest dependent So with guest dependency as a primary focus, I suggest a trial of flicking between 5Live, TalkRadio & BBC Radio London |

Re: Last podcast you listened to
I started listening to a podcast last week called "Creativity Found" after doing a search for shows about linocutting, and found quite a few of the other episodes pretty interesting. The description is:
"Conversations with creatives who found – or re-found – their creativity as adults. We’ll explore their childhood experiences of the arts, discuss how they came to the artistic practices they now love, and consider the barriers they may have experienced between the two. My guests are proponents of visual, written and performing arts, with similarities and wild differences in their experiences. We’ll explore what it is that people value and gain from their new-found artistic experiences, and how their creative lives enrich their practical, necessary, everyday lives." Nanuq (if you're reading this) I think you might enjoy this one. |
