Hello I'm terence and I have a lot of issues in my life to do with avoidance and fear and low self esteem etc. I have tried to explain this to some professionals and asked them about social anxiety. But as I am a quiet person I feel it quite difficult to get anyone to take me seriously and to get a diagnosis. I have been treated for depression and anxiety many times but I feel I'm being short changed by this being pigeon holed as a depressive. I'm not a morose person just nervous and anxious.#

Hello Terence. I read your post in the "When did you find out you suffered from SA?" thread, and I think it's awful the way you were treated by people at your school. I've been bullied a great deal myself and I can completely empathise with you.

I can relate to what you are saying here. I personally tend to play down the extent of how badly my SA affects me. I remember when my psychologist asked me if I was depressed and I just said "I don't think so" even though I knew I was. He said "well if you were you would know about it" and that was that. Just made me feel worse.
