Anyone else dread going to the toilet in a busy restaurant/pub?
I do. I hate it. Happened last night when i was out for dinner in a really tightly-packed busy restaurant. I was upstairs and the toilets were downstairs and although i thought i'd be ok holding it in until i got home (like i used to do in school) i just couldn't and had to go. There was a jazz trio playing in the corner for background music while people ate, and i had to walk down the stairs next to them praying i wouldn't trip and go clattering down them, walk past the musicians and squeeze my way through lots of tables trying not to knock wine glasses etc over with my backside or trip over handbags on the floor. I couldn't find the toilet and felt like everyone was staring at me walking around aimlessly then i ended up queuing at the pay desk to ask where the toilets were, only to be pointed in the direction of where i'd already been and the big "toilets this way" sign above which i must have missed due to being in a panic. Once inside, the toilets were small and three women were putting on lipstick at the mirror. I can't pee if there's someone there so had to wait until they left, which was ages. I dreaded going back out incase i fell up the stairs, couldn't find my table, made a tit of myself etc. I just find doing this really difficult. Does anyone else have this problem too? It's weird.

Re: Anyone else dread going to the toilet in a busy restaurant/pub?
hate public toilets,.
last year, when I was on holiday in a really busy city, I realised it's quite easy to use disabled toilets,.they're usually always available, and a good bit larger than normal. the ones I used were a good bit away from all the busy toilets so much quieter,. - what a relief it was,.. in more ways than one, or is that two ? |

Yes, same for me too, it's just something everybody does but I always feel it brings big attention on me, have also always been scared I'll struggle to find them when I get up.

I hate it if I don't know where they are. I usually just hold on. Even when I do know where I don't like getting up in front of people or walking through crowds. I get disorientated too easily with anxiety.
In other (quieter) places public toilets are often my place to escape though and have a 2 min break from it all, lol. Or before I have to go into somewhere (an appointment, my course etc..) I hide in them to calm down from ensuing panic for 10mins. |

Hate them, busting to go, bladder hurting, get to the urinal and a guy or two are already using it and that's it for me, nothing, nada not a drop will leave my body until I have the toilet to myself .

Re: Anyone else dread going to the toilet in a busy restaurant/pub?
not really, just the state some people leave them in, like
#1 if your a man using it to pee in then lift the seat #2 if you use it flush it, if you've to flush twice then wait #3 if you leave skids and theres a toilet brush then use it #4 if your owner/worker then make sure theres toilet roll & stuff to wash hands with #5 use the smelly things in the urinals so they don't stink of piss in a night club fortnight ago, went to use toilet and came to see this fs... |

^^ Ha, that's vile, I would probably puke seeing that for real. I would hate to see the face of the person who had to clean that up.
A side note, I've never understood why men are asked to lift the seat up when going for a slash. I never do and I don't get how hard it is to direct the flow towards the centre of the loo. |

Not that I go out much but if I do go out in a group then I have to time my visit to the toilet with precision. If I can see the door then obviously I wait until I know there is no-one else inside but then you have to make sure that someone from my party will not decide to join me. Fortunately men don't tend to see a visit to the toilet as a social occasion in the same way that women sometimes do. My most painful experience was a few years ago now. I had gone to an all day works 5 aside football tournament and my team decided to have a pint or two before leaving for home. I knew that it would sensible to have a wee before the trip home but I knew the toilets would be busy so I didn't bother. After about 15 minutes into the journey I realised that it really would have been a good idea to have tried to use the toilet. Trouble is it was 90 minute journey mostly on motorway. After 30 minutes it was beginning to get quite uncomfortable. I didn't know my colleagues well enough to feel even vaguely relaxed in their company and certainly not well enough to explain my predicament. After 45 minutes and for another 45 minutes after that I was in absolute agony. I have no idea how I managed to keep in, the extreme dis-comfort must have been very bad for my downstairs department and hopefully I didn't do myself any permanent damage. |

Re: Anyone else dread going to the toilet in a busy restaurant/pub?
I hated using public toilets and I couldn't go if someone else were there, I would be ok once I had started; and someone else came in, but I had have to have started first.
I don't have the same issue these days as I have a RADA key and use the toilets for the disabled when I absolutely must when out and about. |
