Default Starting new job after long term unemployment

I have a trial for a job having been unemployed for 4 years I am now stressing out. But I'm now panicking everyday I'm useless with people I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea. Once they know the real me I won't fit in and be the weird quiet one again.
I don't know how to stop worrying about it and don't know if i should go or not now.

Unless you really can't face going probably best to at least give it a try, it might be better than you're imagining. It's really brave of you to try going back to work after four years

Good on you for getting back out there. It will be different to what you are used to but take each step at a time and try not to worry about it(easier said than done)I am sure there is no reason why people wouldn***8217;t like you but at the end of the day, you only work with them. You don***8217;t live with them or socialize with them. The important people in your life are the ones that count. I know we spend more time with people we work with than our family but that doesn***8217;t mean you need to like them. Just get thru the day and go back to your happy place. I am a born worrier so it***8217;s hard to stop but I do have good days where I can stop. Just take each step at a time and it will all fall into place.

You have nothing to lose by not going, worst case scenario the trial doesn't work out and you're back where you are now; you may find that you, the job and your colleagues are a perfect fit and it could be the beginning of a great future. Just be yourself, try not to stress and enjoy it.

Good luck misska. Starting a new job is a bit hard for everyone I think. If you really don't feel like it's going to work out you can quit. Or you may be pleasantly surprised - hopefully that will be the case!

Thanks for the replies. I went to the trial but didn't sleep and felt very nervous. I'm not sure how it went as I have not heard any reply from the job yet. I'm waiting for a phone call which is making me worried about having to answer it. The job might be too much for me it's serving customers in a busy shop in a service station.

Good on you for trying it. That in itself is an achievement that you can build upon.

No matter what happens, good for you! It's daunting but once you get a job again and are in the rhythm of it you'll be fine.

With things like this, you can only take it one day at a time
