Default Anyone else get this?

Something I've picked up on over the years is the way i'll sometimes bring myself to go out, feel fine while i'm out but after a while, get tired of the social situation. At that point I have a depressive dip that lasts at very least a few days. Just had exactly this happen today, got tired of being social, dipped, came home and just couldn't pull myself up.

Social situations can really take it out of you. I have a friend who visits now and then. He can stay from anything to all day to 3 hours. Sometimes I feel so drained that I just go straight to bed when he has gone - not sure if that is what you mean i.e a dip meaning being tired, or something else.

When I say a dip I mean I get tired and then when bored of the situation, actually drop into depression. As in, feel like I can't be asked to continue life kinda thing.

Yeah, sometimes I don't leave the house for weeks at a time, I just don't have it in me sometimes. Social stuff really sucks the life out of me, I'm incredibly introverted anyway, but the anxiety makes stuff like this really bad.

I do drink but not always. I even get this after say, squash, my sport of choice. I am introverted yes, but that should just tire me not actually depress me after.

Also I think that if you have really psyched yourself up to go to the event and really decide to go for it, when it actually happens it is a bit disappointing and dull and because you have got used to your own company and doing what you want to do, sometimes you just want to return home and get back on your laptop/phone. This is often the case with me anyway.

I have this a lot where I get all excited about going on a night out, seeing as I get very few nights out, but then on the night out itself I get into a bit of a lull, feel tired and don't feel like I'm connecting to people, and then just think about being in bed. Socialising is something we want to be able to do but when we do it it can be exhausting.

Can totally relate. I don't know why I keep kidding myself that the next social event will be any different. Trouble is, if I keep acting like this, it would be soon before I'm not invited out again. Yet I do want to go to try to improve/really gel with some people. Viscous circle.

is this not some kin of expectation based thing - ie you are thinking irght I can do this and I am going to ake something out of it (this being a postive thing in the mind) - then the reality although being tolerable does not give this 'instant hit' of gratification or whatever thus turning into a negative response cuasing you to og into a down period....

All those words just flooded form my mind / fingers (can relate to this)

Let me know if any of it made sense.
