Thanks everyone. Hope things do improve, why do things seem to get better then feel so much worse so quickly?

I broke down a few months ago and ended up sending a fairly pathetic message begging her to just talk to me. No reply. Don't really know what I wanted out of it to be honest, I was in the middle of a crisis and desperate for… something?

^If the guy that I've cut contact with had sent that I'd have ignored it too. I'd have seen it as just a low point that he was at, that he'd get over, and would only be made worse by me acknowledging.

Maybe, still doesn't feel right. She strung me along for over a year, came to me whenever she was having a hard time. I could have made other friends at uni but she never wanted to sit with anyone else, it was just me, her and the other guy (who was seeing someone else at the time) in our little corner. I missed out on the social side of uni for her and she went on to ruin me. I asked her to have one difficult conversation with me and she wouldn't do it. She took everything and gave nothing so I should just be able to stop thinking about her and acknowledge that she just isn't all that great but that's just not how I feel.

I agree that she doesn't sound like a very nice person, she kept you from socialising with other people and wanted your attention whenever she was having a hard time. There's not much you can do apart from take it as a lesson learned.

If I could find a way to drag you out of the past I would. Your mind spends far too much time there. Wasted energy when there's not a damn thing you can do to change any of it. You won't get answers from her, you won't find answers in yourself, nor from other people. It is what it is.

Could I get away with saying I'm 'house sharing' instead of saying I'm still living with my parents, especially at this age?

I think it would still class as living with parents unfortunately.

I suppose. I don't know what the lesson is though. Don't believe in anyone? That's either really unhealthy or depressingly realistic.

I want to get out of the past, it's just that I was happy some of the time back then and I never am now. I suppose it's all just some useless attempt at recapturing that content and hopeful feeling. Or understanding how I got it, how I lost it and how to do better next time. And find a way for there to be a next time.

Oh well, time for me to look into moving out. Now, how should I put this to my parents?

After feeling crap for most of yesterday I'd say today was the worst 'getting up for work' day so far.

Also I'm annoyed because they've changed the way I get paid to a flat rate rather than minimum wage with premium rates for weekends and nights. Even though on average it works out at an extra £25 a week it just happened to be the week I'm working nights all weekend.

You seem to be assuming that it was your fault, that there was something you did or said which caused it. But it doesn't seem that way at all to me. Thinking about it is futile. You could do and say the things you did with another person and it could go a completely different way.
I know what it is to be stuck thinking of all the good times. To wish to go back to them and stop things from falling apart. All we can do is carry on, wait for the next thing to come our way, and hope that if things look like they are starting to go wrong as they did before that we will recognise it and stop it. Maybe it will all go wrong again but life is too long to be afraid of that happening. There are plenty more chances to **** things up all over again.
I probably shouldn't choose motivational speaker as a career choice.

Nooo, you have to still believe in people! Just don't let someone isolate you from spending time with others and be aware of whether someone you're close to is there for you as much as you are for them, or it's all one sided.

^I love getting new toys. It's like Christmas. A very kinky Christmas.

I've just looked in a mirror for the first time this morning and scared myself. Forgot I got my eyebrows tinted yesterday. Thought I'd been drawn on in my sleep.

I suppose. The real reason I'm stuck in the past is that I get far too much time alone to think and it's kind of unavoidable, and when my mind is idle it just automatically goes to the same place.

Will do. If I get the chance, anyway.

A relationship is more or less out of the question right now but I'd settle for an awkward, clumsy crush and a little bit of texting. That's a bit pathetic…

I don't have a problem with tall girls. Taller than me would be odd but that's not going to happen as I'm pretty tall myself.

just remembered the creepy man from last year who said I was pretty and tall then proceeded to sit really close. Men over 45 seem to have tons of sexual confidence..
I don't know if they do dislike them, really; while I'm no expert on what other men like and dislike, I can't say I've heard anyone saying that. I like tall women, but height isn't really a major factor for me as far as attraction goes. Some of the most attractive women I know are rather taller than average.
