Re: Recommend ANYTHING
Going for a walk only so that you can come back to appreciate your barely above 15°C home.
Get some milk whilst you're at it (which i forgot to do). |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
How many windows do you have? Have you looked up costs? Yeah, it ought to be done, though, i'm assuming you knew they were single glaze when you moved in? Is it something you can 'force' them to do?
I've got double-glaze but am a bit stingey with heating |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
I live in a HMO, so EPC ratings apparently don't matter. I didn't know it was single glazing when I moved in unfortunately.
Yeah think everyone's being stingy with heating at the moment. But it is alarming what cold weather can cause. (heart attacks, strokes, clots) |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
Ah, that's unfortunate, sorry to hear.
Oh, i'm unaware of the risks. I'm having to cold shower atm too because my hot-water mixer tap on the bath/shower has packed in |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
Air Fryers,
They're quite handy and versatile little things, (I mean versatile in that there's a range of things you can cook in it, not that it doubles as a Hoover or a dishwasher or anything ) I'm getting the hang of mine now, I'm sure before long I'll be wondering how I ever managed without one. |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
no space for an air fryer. Keen to try one though.
Recommend this chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...gdghjfpcmcimln It's pretty cool, auto categorises all your tabs. Much easier to manage. |

Quote:
I've had lots of nicely cooked veg in mine, It barely needs any oil, and cooks food in a shorter time, It's ideal for lots of things, although I'm beginning to think I could do with some optional extras like stackable trays to include more potential food cooking areas, It works by a fan assisted heater from above, so you have to keep jiggling the food about to make sure it's all getting cooked evenly, Mine was £70 - not bad for something that's doing the job of an oven, at a fraction of the running costs, |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
Well I wasn't expecting frost on the road, I drove around with the familiarity when you're confident and know your home roads. And then there was an unexpected slide. Must have been just one wheel as I regained control easily. But could have gone worse. I had to walk up that hill after and it's covered in frost.

^ an omelette?
^^ crikey, the roads you know the best are the most dangerous in this sort of weather. It’s been ever so scary lately. It’s the fog and ice combined that scares me. ^^^ that’s good that you’re getting lots of use out of it. I’m not sure what I’d use one for. If anyone needs to know what to get your for Christmas you could suggest the extras for your air fryer! |

Sainsbury's extra crispy oven chips are the best oven chips I've tried. Having generally had disappointing experiences with oven chips, I can say that these are on a different plane of existence.

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
^ I'll give them a go. I like Tesco finest British chunky oven chips, they're really nice and lower in fat and price than McCain, which I detest. I can't imagine why McCain are so popular.

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
I started a new podcast the other day that's excellent: "Where There's A Will, There's A Wake" by Kathy Burke. Interviewing people about their dream death and funeral. It's had Diane Morgan, Stewart Lee, James Acaster, etc.

that's a great title for the Podcast, Kathy Burke has got to be one of the most unpretentious down to earth people people from the land of TV & Celebrity and suchlike. |

Re: Recommend ANYTHING
^^ Oh that sounds rather good. I do like a bit of Kathy Burke.
Nadiya Hussain's coconut fish noodles. It's a super easy recipe and only needs a few ingredients. Some of them like the fish sauce and desiccated coconut won't necessarily be things you cook with a lot (although they can be thrown in loads of other things) but they last ages. I did half the amount of noodles suggested and added fine beans, pepper and carrot ribbons, which works well. I also used light coconut milk, because I can't live with full fat coconut milk guilt. I did it with the cod last time but the partner found it too fishy (I didn't think it was), so going to try it with chicken tonight instead. |
