Agoraphobia
Does anyone know of any online help/support for this as i can find none. I have no local befriending schemes and NHS support is so pulled out (even before corona) that they would only assign a support worker for 4-6 weeks. I have ended up in a catch 22, NHS IAPT do not do home visits and i can not get to appointments alone. So my life even before corona was at a standstill going nowhere and i had given in, for some reason and from out of the blue i suddenly have a little bit of fight again to see if i can find a way to break the cycle of my catch 22.

Re: Agoraphobia
I don't know of anything online at all. As you say, support is virtually non-existent and all befriending schemes in Derbyshire seem to have been removed (things are very different in Notts and South Yorkshire though!); the best advice I can offer is to see what your social worker can suggest.

Re: Agoraphobia
If you can afford it you could look in to seeing a private therapist who could come to your house (someone who specialises in agoraphobia maybe) and help you gradually work on things. I remember there was a poster here before who was able to do that and made a lot of progress.

Re: Agoraphobia
Thank you Dougella, i have recently been looking into this but as i can no longer work the cost of private would be very difficult as the Cost per Session vary from £70 - £110. Just having one per week would eat up most of my ESA.

Re: Agoraphobia
^ It's really hard isn't it, some therapists work on a sliding scale but it's still a lot for anyone on benefits. I know some people have been able to claim PIP and use that specifically for their therapy, but ofcourse it's another lot of forms etc to go through.

Re: Agoraphobia
Thank you genovese but i have looked at anxietyuk before and just not sure about the value i would get from the £40 membership. The main reason to join would be the Access to reduced cost therapies but again they do not have one close enough for me to get to. As with most services (befriender schemes, support groups ect) there is a big void in the middle of the UK. Just to give you an idea of this void Anxietyuk have 6 therapy locations in and around Bristol but only 4 within the whole area of Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield, Stoke & Lincoln.
