Re: chopper anyone..
I remember them but I never had one. I didn't have a proper bike till the early 80's and it was a silver girls fold-up bike (fab, eh?!) (Emote: biggrin).

Re: chopper anyone..
I had one of these as a kid, probably the successor to the Chopper.
It was a Raleigh Grifter, a sort of pre-BMX type bike. |

Re: chopper anyone..
Used to have a Tomahawk myself, a smaller version of Chopper. My brother had a Chopper that seemed to have constant rear tyre problems, nice & comfy to ride although the seats did take a week to dry after it rained.

Re: chopper anyone..
Yeah, Choppers were cool, my bro had one, a red one i think. It was hard work to get anywhere on it unless ofcourse you were going downhill. I used to have a thing about the gear selector lever!(Emote: roundnround)

Re: chopper anyone..
I (finally) learnt to ride a bike on a homebrew "Easyrider" chopper, leant by a mate. Probably not the easiest option, the handlebars were at shoulder height. It was 1969, aaaagh.

Re: chopper anyone..
I had a grifter n all. The seat was huge and so padded. I think it had three gears on like a gripshift thing if I remember right.

Re: chopper anyone..
I had a chopper. The new ones are all politically correct, moved gear stick to stop you knocking your nuts off

Re: chopper anyone..
I don't remember what my first bike was, but one day the handlebars did this weird Uri Geller thing and just fell off while I was riding it.
After that I had some kind of BMX-style thing, which got nicked. At some point I had a second-hand Chopper for a short while, but really didn't care for it much. Next I had a Grifter. Lovely bike, completely indestructible. That also got nicked, along with a section of the railings it was chained to. After that, my idiot father decided I should have a racing bike, which was no bloody use at all, and I lost interest in the whole thing. (Emote: rollineyesyellow) |

Re: chopper anyone..
I got a Chopper the xmas everyone else got Grifters.
It was like having a pair of flares when everyone else had drainpipes! Wish I still had it now. The original ones are worth a fortune. |
