work today - the agency i work for has eliminated paid breaks so we only get our 30-60 minute lunch now. first of all we're forced to take lunch between 12 and 1 becuase of regulations (most of us like taking lunch at 1 or half 1 to shorten the afternoon) secondly you're not allowed to leave your desk for several hours. also can't leave desk to go to the deli for a snack or to use phone. i have worked in the shittiest of the shit and even at the worst places we have been permitted at least one break. jfc

also the workplace as a whole is getting rid of the free coach bus from town (workplace is in the middle of nowhere) so we will have to walk 20mins to and from bus stop or pay an extra ~40 quid on top of whatever trasnport we already pay, in order to get the coach. oi vey

Hmm, I appear to be extremely amusing today but I don't know why.

Offered to help carry a heavy bag for a lady in high heels up some stairs which she was clearly struggling with - She sort of laughed and said no thank you (bitch).

Went to get my morning coffee and while ordering said something like, 'I'll get something different one day, just to keep you on your toes'. Which was apparently hilarious...

Lovely EAT girl was making my coffee and asked how I was, I replied, ' yeah, not so bad, not so bad'. Which was, again, apparently laugh out loud funny.

I have checked the mirror and nothing seems to be any worse than usual. I'm not sure what is going but the ego boost these encounters have given me is worrying. I shouldn't be encouraged with laughter, it only makes me a worse person. I am going to ruin it all by going too far.

Was someone you know on the show or was your mum just going because she likes it?

The person I know won 8.5k on Tuesday's show, lucky bugger!

It does kinda suck not being able to look around without worrying that people think you're staring/perving at them, but other than that, summer is much more awesome than winter!

Need to find a working lighter! I can't find any that work in my lighter drawer, and I can't be bothered to go out and buy one. Don't even have any matches.

Maybe I should buy a Zippo for a backup, cause they never seem to go wrong, as long as you have some spare fluid to keep them from drying out.

I refuse to use zippos, last time I used my brother's he'd just filled it and I nearly burnt my face off

Electric.

Maybe I should use the toaster like a car cigarette lighter.

Yeh, Zippos stink. Butane lighters ftw. Those wee blowtorches make good lighters, and you can use them for cooking, too.

When i was about 15 me and my mate couldn't find a lighter and he had an electric hob, so we put a piece of paper in the toaster to set fire to it to use that, but it went up as if it were covered in petrol and filled the kitchen with smoke

Ok maybe the toaster isn't such a good idea, as it's not that easy to reach the element with a cigarette, but maybe the element on the grill part of the oven might work.

For some people the benefits outweigh the negatives. Just like eating anything unhealthy, or drinking alcohol, or whatever. Everything kills you eventually.

If you thought there weren't upsides why did you think people do it in the first place?

Oh well....moving on
Fair enough, to each their own. There aren't any positive health benefits to eating chocolate cake either though, and plenty of people do that.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I don't care if I get cancer. I'm going to have a miserable life anyway, so I'd happily shorten it and make it slightly less miserable in the meantime.

I know someone who was a heavy smoker. It hasn't killed him (yet) but it's given him 10 years of numerous terrible illnesses, operations and generally a living hell.

Smoking has improved my SA. I've made friends and acquaintances through smoking and I've struck up conversations with random people.

It's also been a safety blanket and a great excuse to get out of awkward social situations.

I hardly smoke these days, less than 10 a week, but smoking has helped me in a roundabout sort of way.

(Funny, when you start a sentence with the words 'long and hard', I imagine it's going to be something different!)

Lol that actually worked fine, and was less of a pain than poking around under a painfully hot grill – didn't think it would work too well through the ceramic, but it only took 20-30 seconds, though I think holding the cigarette over it for that long must've nuked the tobacco or something, because it didn't taste right.

I think I'll order a decent torch lighter this week. I had a nice one a few years ago, but I ended up losing it.

Medieval sword fighting seems like an interesting hobby to take up… don't know how you go about getting into that though…

I reckon they'll have been impressed by how serious and determined you are about the whole thing.
