I could really do with some fitness at home pointers, if anyone knows of any good sources? I was thinking of some sort of yoga ish, stretching, repetitive movements, something that won't break a sweat nor cause much noise. Something i could follow on youtube maybe or a great web site with routines etc. Maybe buy some equipment, like those big rubber band things.

Aw, rocket spud, that's excellent that you'd like to take up yoga.

Yoga is great for relaxation and to build up flexibility. Breath training (nose breathing and not using your mouth) is good too for relaxation and anxiety.

A good start is to follow guided meditation and relaxation that focuses on breathing. Then learning the basic poses and creating your own routines is great. A good idea would be to learn the poses either through video or photos and then create your own routines based on what makes you feel good and what flows. The silence is nice too.

Equipment: nothing is essential. I use a yoga mat, a strap (got a really cheap one in Flying Tiger) and sometimes I use knee pads because I had a knee injury for a while but don't tend to use them now.

Pilates is great for toning your body. You can incorporate weight training into it as well by using hand weights. It's similar to yoga but a bit more intense with less focus on relaxation. I use the same equipment - a yoga mat and a strap.

Sorry not to have any recommendations for videos. I think there are some on the nhs website.

I wish i hadn't said yoga now! Thanks for the replies but i meant more aerobic and/or movement based, which included the odd stretch exercise, kinda like Mr Motivator back in the day (if i'm remembering that correctly). Don't worry, i'm just being lazy not looking myself.

^ How about a simple push ups and bodyweight squat routine? You won't break a sweat, you can do it any time you're at home, at your own pace, and it won't make any noise.

Thanks, Jam. I'm already started on pushups. I've been off/on for years with pushups, i need to try to establish a routine because i'm very patchy atm with any momentum. Same with pull-ups - i've had a pull-up bar for years but never established a solid routine. I've got free weights but haven't done anything with them for a long time.

I think i need to be standing in front of a tv or in a gym and taking direction/copying an instructor because i haven't got the attention/focus to do this myself right now. I was thinking about buying a new vertical climber because i chucked my old one as it was clunky with grit/dirt and rusty - i had it for years and sweated all over it. That was really good for me because i could plonk it in front of the tv and do 30-60mins no problem.

Have you tried running? I'm fairly lazy don't have much motivation for exercise but seem to be consistent at going for a run endorphins must be addictive can't think of any other reason I keep doing it.

I did when i was living back at home but now i'm in a flat i'm too concerned about the noise it makes. I'd recommend them all day if you had the space and noise issues weren't a problem, they're second to none for workout equipment (if a little bit boring).

I don't fancy running for a number of reasons but where i'm already active with walking i don't want to knacker my knees with the impact.

Why would someone find this comment rude? “I love how you can carry yourself."

I was just watching a woman's youtube in which someone commented that they find the comment rude and the youtuber responded that they also found it rude. They are in a very opposite world to me in which people seem like they don't really want to associate with me. Most people.

^ I agree with you - that's a compliment - it means they think they have an air of confidence and self-assurance about them.

But perhaps it's misinterpreted to be about their appearance?

Maybe, the youtuber is very attractive to me. That's why I peeked her videos, being very honest I guess. Though I am not subscribing to her.

If it's misinterpreted to be about their appearance how can it be perceived as rude?

Btw I never commented on her video, just saw the comment.

Well, I can't comment specifically on this person because I don't know them. But it could be misinterpreted in a rude way if think they're talking about a person's physique or shape.

But how someone carries themself is about the level of confidence they project.

@NeverWas - have you ever tried Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner? It's a little pricey. There are a few different versions of it for different hair types and I'm sure I've seen a dyed hair version.

^ *gulp*

high stakes, indeed!

I went to try a new flavour for brunettes - a full bottle, and it rang up on the till at £1.05 in Superdrug! It's not as good at the other flavours though so maybe that's why.

So I've got a really heavy folding desk that is held to the wall with a steel bracket. There's no brace against the floor. The bracket has come away from the wall and needs sorting.. luckily we realised it was on the way so it didn't crash to the floor. It was held in with something like 6 x 2 inch number 10 screws and plugs. It's brick and plaster but obviously the screws didn't penetrate the bricks sufficiently and the plaster is crumbly.

So my question.. I'm thinking of using something like this

https://www.screwfix.com/p/fischer-t...ails_container

in order to get more depth into the brickwork. But I need to fix up the holes in the plaster so that the plug isn't just floating and has some grip at that end.

What's the best way to fill those holes, not just cosmetically but to bring some strength back? I'm thinking to cut out maybe a 1-2 inch square around each hole, brush some PVA in there, and fill with a couple of layers of a deep fill filler. Does that sound like a decent plan??

What's a good Xmas present for someone who's into baking? They've already got mixers, bowls, baking tins. That's probably it I think.

^^what was the outcome of the desk repair job?

Sorry never saw your question.

I've used this before to repair holes in walls.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-...in-300ml/32863

As far as bolting things to wall Fischer fixings are more for fixing in upvc windows and door.

Raw bolts are stronger as they expand into the brickwork though might not be suitable for your shelf brackets
.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-...m-5-pack/60234

Failing that some 4 inch screws and brown plugs
