Sorry. that was terrible. I've dishonoured the spirit of the thread.

I really did ask them if they wanted their picture taken in front of the old girl - not me! the painting!

they said yes, all excited. I even directed them as to where they should stand so that La Joconde would be in the middle.

My life is blessed, as I get to talk to pretty women all the time.

So MANY pretty Paris people.

Yay I really like this thread! Today I...

tidied the living room,

phoned the library to renew my books,

and phoned the charity shop to let them know why I wasn't in last week and make arrangements for this week.

Oh and logged on to SAUK after a long time

Now I'm off to do some laundry and start prepping dinner.

Someone from Anxiety UK contacted me via a letter and rather than replying by letter or email I phoned them up. Unfortunately I got the answering machine, but rather than hang up I managed to compose myself enough to leave an articulate message. This is a big thing for me as I hate using the phone because I usually get very anxious and my mind goes blank. Well done!

Yesterday I:
A)Went out with some people from uni for coffee and food(that was quite anxious for me as i can't eat in public)
B)I managed to make some conversation
C)A stranger in the subway started talking to me! And i managed to talk to him too..I wasn't very anxious I guess because I was too tired
D) I waited the bus for hours so I had to take a cab back home and a made a little bit converstation with the taxi driver( I think he liked me cause he didn't charged me much!)
And finally today i had the courage to set the record straight with a girl from uni I know although i felt really bad afterwards cause she was right

P.s I'm very tired now..Socialising is so hard!

I think I've done a really cool thing.

a few weeks ago, a very interesting CV came in via email. I noticed that the person applying had won a Leonardo scholarship, mentioned on his cover letter. I checked out the rest of the CV, noting his presentation work was very good. the Scholarship allowed him to work for free, for about 6 months. He's still a student, so needed the work experience to advance on his course.

I put it forward to the partners I work for, and did my best to big the guy up.

To make a long story short, we now have a gorgeous Spanish student working in our office (no the CV did not come with a photo!) and he's really nice to boot, and he'll be able to advance in his career ANd improve his English.

I like to think I helped in some small way. I mean, I feel really good about it. not to toot my own horn or anything.

Yesterday I went and enrolled on an evening class on beaded jewellery making. It was really stressful because I had to wait in 3 different queues and it took ages but I did it and I'm really glad, it's only one night a week but it's nice to feel like I'm doing something constructive.

Woo to you all!

yesterday, I said "hi there" to a neighbour, instead of avoidin eye contact by looking down and just hurrying on by. I mean I looked the guy full in the face and smiled and said "hi there". I've lived on that street for 8 years and have never spoken to him as long as he's been there, which is, I think, about 5 years. Didn't even think about it, just did it.

Great first 2 days of school

1. We had to interview each other and read what info we got on the person in front of the class!! I interviewed well and spoke loud. The class thing went quite well. I actually got up there and did it. At the end my voice went a bit shaky, but who cares, I did it, made a joke or two up there and I'm proud!

2. Spoke to 4 different people, actually asked them questions

3. Did group work, had fun, went around with someone during lunch time and spoke quite alot. For once I was the one asking alot of questions and he was the really quiet one! For the group work we had to do a bit of acting, I could have done better, but I did well.

Getting beter and better and I'm actually enjoying school for once wish me luck

I chatted to a girl that has just returned to work from maternity leave, she's a bit superior and I dreaded her coming back, but I was friendly and polite and didn't feel too wretched.

Jeez, that would be my personal nightmare. I believe Karaoke is Japanese for 'utter public humiliation being forced to by so-called friends'. But great you enjoyed it!

Yay to FuzzyDuck, Icklebitt, Birdofprey, mb86, Kaim, Befals, hgraham and Emmyclaire for talking on the phone or making small talk to strangers!

Well done to moddy, SSI, diluted and loner1 for overcoming the small buggers of everyday life!

I went to my garage today... for the third time in two weeks. Why? Because the bloody mechanic didn't listen to me when I went there for the first time! I needed to do my annual service and MOT. So I phoned them up, made an appointment and told them what had to be done. When I handed in my car I told them one or two things that might be needed to be checked. When I said *again* that I was there for a proper service he just told me something about a special offer, blah, blah, cheaper, etc. So when I asked, whether that included new oil and oil filter etc. he said no. So I told him to do that please. I think that could have been a hint for him, that maybe we weren't talking about the same stuff. He was however more interested in offering me cookies and telling me (wrong!) directions how to get home from the garage. To cut it a bit short, turned out they just made a kind of superficial check, not checking and exchanging for instance brake fluid, valves etc. So when I got there to get my car I got the note that my annual service was due! Gaaaaah! Not only had they made a completely superfluos 'check', it also meant I had to come back again. I was furious inside. But it got even better. When I drove home the signal for the cooling system went on. I checked and had to discover that the tube-thingy from the tank to the system had come off, so no water whatsoever in it. I tried to fix it so that I could go back to the garage, but as there had already got air into the system I was lucky it didn't do any bigger damage. For that occasion I already had decided to suit up, wearing heals, make-up and a bun as I was sick of not being taken serious. I had to wait for over an hour while they fixed it, but they didn't even dare to ask me to pay for it. HAH! There! And today when I went there again to finally have that service done, I was stern, with a hint of annoyance in my voice... and they were very eager to give me a good fix price in advance! They even vacuumed my car!

But why oh why did it need so much hassle from my side? Anyway I'm happy I stood my ground.

happy birthday! did you have a good day? how did your induction go?

Two days ago I went to Milton Keynes shopping centre. I hate the place and do everything I can to avoid going there. I was going there to get fitted for a kilt

Just when I thought I couldn't be made any more anxious, the bloke started measuring me in the middle of the shop with people about... and then he pulls my shirt up right there in front of everyone so he could measure properly! I went bright red, and my heart was pounding, legs started shaking, hands went mega sweaty, started getting a little panicy, but then i was over.. I got through it though and am glad it's over

I went running!!! I so hate it, because I don't have an mp3, so there's nothing that stops me from thinking and thinking and thinking... But, I did it and I managed to do so without a single stop and even sped up for the last bit. 22 minutes. Not great, but I did it and feel good about it!
