Default Exercise to help anxiety

Ive been doing a bit of research into exercise and anxiety. My anxiety levels are at a record high at the moment.

Ive tried to put togather a plan to reduce this by exercise. I reckon I would probably have to do at last 45 mins aday to have any effect.

Does anyone else have any thoughts? Do you feel better afer you do exercise, and how often and how much?

I definitely feel the benefits of exercise. I've practised yoga for over a decade and mostly just do the warm up exercises that consist of nothing more than lying down on a mat and stretching all parts of your body.

Hi sunset, I agree. Exercise works wonders for anxiety.

I visit my local gym most days and do a range of classes / activities.

There's also opportunity to meet and socialise with other people.

So you get a double whammy!

Im not sure I really speak to anyone unless Im in an exercise class.

If I just use the equipment I tend to be quite solitary, but like today I spent 25 mins on the equioment then sat in the jacussi and spoke to a woman for a while.

I think Im starting to feel in control of my life and my fitness by doing it. I really want to become the fittest I have ever been in 2017.

I love yoga and go to a class regularly. I had to join one as one of my CBT targets a few years ago and since then I have joined a different class which I have gone to intermittently. You just focus on your own practice and try to ignore the ultra flexible people. The type of people who go are usually quite nice I find. Swimming is good too once you find out when the less busy times are. Walking in the countryside is lovely too.

Other day, I walked about 10 miles (1) in a job (2) to a workplace (don't ask), and anxiety pretty much disappears.

Yes.I love walking. I find swimming and walking the best for me.

I sort of think of my exercise as similar to medication. I think I would feel better if I upped my dosage lol.

At the moment I only do about 20 to 25 mins but Im working within a kind of comfort zone until I get fitter.
