Default Fitness aspirations 2017

Thought I'd make a thread where users can share their fitness aspirations for 2017 and inspire us. We all want to become a better version of ourselves, so let's actually do it.

Doesn't matter how big or small your goals are, training for an event or to simply shed a few pounds, share it, inspire the forum, inspire me.

^ I agree, I genuinely can't stand those kind of people at the gym. They are one of the worse kinds, even worse than those shallow, insecure guys with low self esteem who uses topless photos of themselves as their avatar on a mental health forum.

Also, good luck with your goals, they sound cool. I hope you achieve them.

I do mma but i'm eyeing up a white collar boxing event next year. thing is it's for charity and they want the fighters to sell as many tickets as possible... but i wouldn't want anyone who knows me being there... so that's a bit awkward lol

Just to generally get fitter, eat less junk and lose a few stone. Maybe try out some martial arts classes as well, it's something I've wanted to do for ages but always talked myself out of.

Planning on getting back on the Leangains diet (or is it lifestyle?), I think it's the only way I can properly control my weight. Also must eat much more veg!

Probably aim for ~13st, and make sure I stick to doing my god damn weightlifting three times a week

i'm cambridge way. done mma for about 18 months but we do a fair bit of stand up and i enjoy boxing.

a mate of mine had a fight recently with UWCB . he trained in their camp for a couple months and was matched up with someone of a similar skill level and size, so that lessens the chance of a miss match. they have events all over the country. it's worth a look.

I'm aiming to lose a stone, in reality it should be 3 but think if I stress about the 3 it will backfire, so sticking to the one stone which will be hard enough!

This isnt a new year thing I've been trying for a few months now but the new year coming in gives me a little more incentive.

I'm one of those unfortunate people that piles it on just looking at cake (well eating as well yes) but you know what I mean! I am also turning 50 in 2017 and I'm going through the menopause which is a notorious time for waistband expansion and a downward slide in health.
I have my work cut out!

I need to stay low impact because of recent diagnosis of asthma, so am upping my walking style to fast and starting swimming, which I used to enjoy if only I can get over the horror of being seen in a costume.
I am hoping the weight loss and increased fitness may alter my diagnosis.

Although I have over indulged over Xmas (which I have allowed myself to do without guilt) I am aiming to have a food overhaul which includes more fruit and veg and less meat (which I dont eat a lot of anyway)
Wish me luck!

My main goal for next year is to get my wrist fixed. Can't really make any other goals. Hoping to get a summer in climbing, maybe the Alps, but got to see how recovery goes and when I can pull hard on rock again.

I'm hoping to get the hips good enough for a long distance hike again, going to be doing a lot of walking whilst in cast and recovering I think.

I lost about 2.5 stone this year (well, more like three, but I've probably put on half a stone since), I hope to lose at least another one, maybe two. I'll just keep going until I am happy with how I feel and look.

I want to get into a regular gym routine of 2-3 times a week rather than 2-3 times a month

I also want to take up a sport next year - no idea what though!

Great idea for a positive thread jam.

I'm going back to the gym again to go on the treadmill, bike, cross trainer and rowing machine. I'm also going to go to classes with kettle bells and boot camp.
I'm also going to try to go swimming.

I think I'd like to take up swimming

It sounds like something I wouldn't mind doing from a fitness point of view, going to a gym sounds like an absolute nightmare for about 50 different reasons

I do need to lose a stone (or 2..is it 2? I hope its only 2!) this christmas has not helped..

Now..if only I could swim

Go to gym a fair bit anyway. Aim to get body fat down, muscle up, become a bodybuilders physique and start playing rugby and MMA.

1)Be brave and go swimming on my own
2) Join a gym or start attending a boot camp session.
3) Take part in Parkrun
4) Be able to run for 3 miles without stopping

Id like to get a regular morning regime going.

In the past I could never go to a gym in the mornings due to time constraints, but I now live 5 min walk from my work and 10 min drive from a gym so I would like to get there morning time.

Evening time, even with the best intentions, would feel tired or hungry, always made an excuse to get home

Running - now I'm in my thirties my knees sometimes feel like ticking bombs so we'll see how this one goes.
Yoga - never done it before but I've had a vague curiosity about it over the years. A recent article on a skateboarding site (here) got me interested again so I want to give it a go this year.
Chin ups/pull ups - need to get back into these, just bought a new doorway bar. My old bar was starting to rust, I think the nickel in it caused my eyes to water for a few days (cool story bro).

Would love to lose a stone.

Been to two spinning classes this week and swam 100 lengths of the pool this evening. Hopefully will continue going to the gym at least 3 times a week. Would like to try a new class out e.g. Bodypump or Body Attack and also do more weight training.
