Audition 9/10 - I absolutely loved this film, and I doubt many other people would I was looking forward to the infamous torture scenes, and they didn't disappoint. Could have been longer though.

Martyrs 9/10 - I'm not sure what to say really... Well, it's incredibly disturbing and extremely difficult to watch. It's an experience that you can't describe. It's also really profound.

It's the only film I consider amazing which I shall never watch again.

Cinema/Divergent Insurgent -
5/10 I didn't really like it, it wasn't as good as the first and it confused me. The action were okay but there wasn't a whole lot to the story for it to go on for as long as it did, doubt I'll ever watch it again.

Green zone - 7/10

It wasn't awesome but it was an alright watch, storyline isn't confusing so you can follow it and there's a lot of meaning behind the film.

backcountry
this was way better than grizzly, more suspenseful and no bears were harmed. i worry these killer bear movies will give them a bad name like jaws did with sharks. i don't think they normally kill humans unless they are really hungry 7/10

Prometheus

i think a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon with all the (mostly unfair) criticism it got. i thought it was a great spectacle. i thought the build up was well paced as it kept me intrigued throughout. i liked fassbender, i liked the mystique about the 'engineers' and their origins (plus i thought they looked badass) and i thought it ended on a great cliffhanger.

all the wannabe critics cutting it to pieces could do just the same to all the films they like. mainstream films are meant to appeal to a broad audience and all have plot holes. get over it.

Interstellar (2014) 10/10

I had no expectations before watching this and I did so intentionally. I wouldn't let anyone tell me anything about it and all I knew is that it was about space travel. I ignored all the hype and went in with an objective perspective.

I was completely blown away. It's superbly written by the Nolan brothers, quite visually pleasing as you'd expect and had a narrative so elaborate and profound that I sense it'll be on my mind for the next few weeks.

Gravity - 7.5 finally got around to watching it. Put off watching it just because I knew it was Sandra Bullock going solo for over an hour but she was really good.

Interstellar
- 8.5 great film but a few too many silly bits spoilt it for me. How annoying was Anne Hathaway's character!? Had the potential to be a greatest of all time but fell short for me. Ending was a bit too 2001 Space Odyssey. Felt like it borrowed from too many other sci-fi's that had gone before but it was very well executed nonetheless.

"American Hustle". 7/10

Better than I expected, and not set in a casino (which Id previously thought)

Christian Bale's acting style was a bit odd though, almost as if he was trying to copy Robert De Niro or something?? Oddly enough De Niro did appear in a small part near the end of the film!!!

Decent enogh movie though...

I dunno, I just found the way Promotheus explored ideas hammy and uninteresting. And the dialogue was dreadful. It had some good things about it too mind.

Paddington - 6/10, would have scored higher without the guardian pleasing paean to multiculturalism tacked on the end. Still funny and endearing though. Maybe a 7 actually.

i watched it last night again (already seen it in imax - which was, to say the least, intense :p) and i feel as if i got more out of it a second time. the visuals of saturn, the black hole, the alien planets, etc, alone are enough to make me cri evrytiem but i liked how they attempted to deal with the incomprehensible. it was brave, considering it's a blockbuster movie.

it's certainly not without its flaws, but i just thought the overwhelming criticism it got was unfounded. other blockbusters aren't subject to that level of criticism and they're all pretty much as dumb as eachother. you just have to switch off a bit and enjoy the spectacle, i think.

I'd have loved to watch it at IMAX, that would've been great! I agree about the premise and themes of the film (I don't know how to do spoilers so I'm keeping it vague!), they're rarely seen in film and I think it was commendable to involve such a complex theory and try to present it for a mainstream audience to understand. I also don't see why people think Matt Damon's character is out of place in the narrative. In regards to one of the main themes surrounding human preservation (and the complications), his character is really, really appropriate. I've heard some refer to his character as 'evil Matt Damon', he's not evil, he's human!

I think I've spoken too much, but I agree, it's a very good film and I'll hopefully be watching it again soon!

Nightmare Concert (A Cat in the Brain) - A bizarre film with Lucio Fulci playing himself, bags of nudity, old-school FX and a wafer thin storyline. 6/10.

it was literally awesome in imax but i'm not sure what i thought about the sound during some scenes - you know, when the organ-type music gradually builds up and becomes really loud? well, listening to that s**t in imax was like being inside some death metal band's bass drum. my whole body was vibrating! xD

yeah i guessed that but i don't agree with them. how could anyone recreate anything like the original alien films? they've been done, so you can't copy them and any further sequels would just feel samey and unfulfilling, so i think a prequel was most appropriate. however, i think even if the film was without most of the apparent flaws the critics highlighted, a lot of people still wouldn't have been happy just because it's different and not alien/aliens x /

Patch Adams 6/10.

It was enjoyable. I loved the scenes where Patch was cheering up the patients. But I did find it too melodramatic and predictable. And I found the aspect of the storyline where one of the main characters dies unnecessary.

But Robin William's performance is excellent, and makes up for some of the flaws of the film.
