First off I want to turn the thing on silent for when I am at work, my friend told me to turn down the ringer at the side but this doesn't turn off text tones.

And.. how do I get on the internet, like just open up a browser to type an email address in. I got a firefox app but it is asking me to sync with my home computer to save bookmarks and stuff. I don't want the same stuff on my iphone as my computer at home i.e. SAUK.

To turn it off to silent for text sounds, go to:

settings-sounds- new text message - and just tap 'none'

To turn sound altogether, including phone sounds, you can just switch off the button above the ringer (on the left hand side of the phone)

Don't use the firefox app for surfing the net, it's only there for storing your favourites, like bookmarked websites from your pc.

For surfing the web, use the safari, which should be somewhere at the bottom on your main menu screen. You can also use an app called 'opera', which is good for surfing the net, but i always use safari personally.

Hope this helps

I think your best bet is to google 'themes / tones for iphones', as there isn't really any on the iphone only wallpaper, with still photos, which i can see is not what you want lol

And there's only a few ringtones on the iphone, unless you connect your iphone to your pc and sync any you have on there?

there are two ways too connect to the internet on the iphone, one through a cellular network like 3G which is available in every large town and indicated by "3G" beside the O2-UK on the top left of the iphone, the other is by connecting to a wireless router, do you have a wireless router? typically routers have the wireless key written on the back of them.

Also to stop the rotating screen, if you are using iOS4 double press the big home button and a hidden section should appear, flick the apps to the right and there should be a grey button with a circular arrow which you can press to stop rotation

hope this helps probably not explained very well but its the best my brain can do at the mo

ok, if you dont know your wireless password for sky you must follow this tutorial:

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-r...iguration.html

the way to connect to your router is too do it through your internet brower by typing this code (192.168.0.1)
into the address bar just like a web address, this takes you to the router login which is default username: admin and password:sky, from here just follow the tutorial, you'll probably need to change your key since you dont know it.

It might have it printed on the bottom of your router, or there might be a card with it.

you need to update to iOS4 if you want to stop auto-rotate, i cant understand why we had to wait until iOS4 for this.

Hi, I presume you have an iPhone 4? If you press and hold the button a lil menu appears. Swipe to the left and theres a button to lock the rotation thingy. Hope this helps
