Probably, yes. I didn't like school much when I was there, but I didn't have any personal conflicts or anything like that so it wouldn't be too bad. It's only been a few years, and I'm still in some kind of contact with a few people from school anyway (not just with friends) so it wouldn't be like meeting complete strangers. I'd still be nervous and find it awkward but not for any real reason.

Yeh God no, school was awful, felt like such a freak, so why the hell would I want to remind myself of that again, plus I'm a totally different person now to who I was then so stuff any trip down memory bad lane. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about schooldays.

Given the overwhelmingly negative responses (and the passion with which those responses were expressed), I have to wonder whether the school years are generally the worst stage of life for most SA sufferers. I know they were for me. I also believe that negative school experiences have an effect that lasts for the remainder of one's life.

Yes, certainly were for me. Primary was so-so but secondary was hell.

Maybe Primary school because that was okay. But secondary school and sixth form definitely not because they weren't exactly happy times and I've kept in contact as much as I can with the couple of people I want to. No one would notice/care/remember me anyway.

Sounds like someone was definitely in sympathy with you there. I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty people, not just SA peeps, would find school reunions tedious or hard work for some of the very same reasons that people here have stated, such as not being popular at school or not having achieved superficial things later in life like status, property ownership, etc that society seems to regard so highly but I don't (yawn).

Probably not! School reunions are just excuses for people to show off to everyone how successful they are. And school was probably the least happiest part of my life, so far.

Yes. I hated school for the most part, but I think that was more because of my issues than the people there (although I was bullied). I'd like to see what people are up to now, because I'm nosey, and show myself that I can do it - kind of like getting back on a horse after it bucks you off. It'd probably be pretty difficult, but I think it'd be good for me.

I saw my old year at secondary school were doing a "reunion" a few months back and no way would I have gone! No one would miss me anyway, I was never Mr. popular, just a quiet kid, shy around girls, only good at Art and English. I had 2 great friends but they've moved miles away so wouldn't be there anyway.

Also I cringed and felt anxious just imagining the questions I'd probably be asked. THEM: So where are you living now Jigz? ME: Same house I was when I was at school. THEM: STILL living with your parents?!!??! ME: Yep THEM: ....

THEM: So any kids, married/girlfriend, what career/job do you have? ME: No, No None. THEM: .....

I mean i added people i knew from school to my facebook and then i found out i had nothing to say to them any what not and so i deleted them as friends because whats the point in being added as friends if you dont consider them as a friend and have nothing to talk about so yeah the same goes for the reunion i think it would be pointless to me unless i had my boyfriend to go without to make it less awkward

I realise I'm being negative and all that but there's no way I could possibly put a positive spin on my life since I left school and I'd feel freakish even being there. It would also massively depress me. I quite liked school by the way and did have some good mates back then, it's not like I even have any enemies who'd make me not want to go. Just the sheer embarrassment of knowing I'm a complete failure compared to everyone else there would make the whole thing too humiliating to even contemplate.

the girl was like 'seriously, you were so popular at school everyone always wonders where you went they would love to see you!' which was nice, but I always think i'm so different from what i was at school it would kind of be dissapointing for others as I am not what they would expect at all!
