My gran had the original, I guess she got it when it first came out like thirty years ago. The photos inside used to scare the hell out of me. When I was staying over for the night, and feeling brave, i would take it to bed with me and pore over the pictures until I got scared and put it under the bed.
Apparently those original editions go for like £200 now, I wonder where my gran's ended up...
Even the new editions are quite steep, but i want one for nostalgia's sake, and because I remember it was beautifully illustrated and had such amazing photos.

I want to read it in bed as I smoke this:

A West Highland Terrier

Ever since I went over to America to visit my uncle's family 10 years ago, I've wanted one of these, they had a 20-year old frail terrier with a gammy leg called Ruffles (what a name!), who was just the sweetest dog you could ever meet, I still have the photo of him on my wall cause I loved him that much.

Unfortunately, despite my sister and I's constant asking throughout our childhood to get a dog, both my parents have always refused to get a dog (or any pets for that matter other than a few goldfish once) and right now, feeling the way I do feeling so lonely and isolated all the time, I'd love a dog right now and it would even get me out the house, but I'll never have one until I get my own place which could be decades at the rate I'm going
