Default Anyone from London?

Hi there!
I'm from south east London and I don't seem to find any over 40 from around here to chat to. I would love to engage in conversation with people my age group...It's tough enough I think, to make friends when you have SA, it's tougher when the people you 'meet' online live far away (the topic of conversation seem to be area related at times), and even harder when they're younger (I don't seem to have much in common with young people...)

SO! If you're over 40 and live in and around London, come and say HI!

There are bound to be folks from London posting on here Id imagine.

Imagine if you live where I do in NE Scotland Claire. Id be surprised if there has been more than a dozen SA Uk members from my neck of the woods in the 13 years Ive been a member here!!

Thanks Claire, North London is as good as it gets for me.

I suppose, neilm, I can't complain when you look at it that way!

Hi Les,
thanks for passing by. Shortlands is a short drive from here...but I guess that's memories for you! I've been to Guilford, it's a nice place.

Hi again, I must be going daft in my old age, only I could swap a nice flat High St such as Beckenham or Bromley for Guildford. that has a High St on a steep hill, sometimes I find myself saying "sod it! I'll go back another day" if I have forgotten something when shopping, rather than walk up that ruddy steep and cobbled high street in Guildford.

It's never too late Les! LOL
I've never lived in Guilford so I cannot comment, but I went to Bromley High Street today, and I sure enjoyed it! (and I don't even like shopping...)

Yes Blade, I'm from the south east, on the border between Sydenham and Forest Hill. It's a lovely leafy area. Never been to Banstead, me but I've been to Sutton and Carshalton (love Carshalton, ). Have I missed much?

Hi Lemongirl!

I know how you feel, that's why I started this thread. I suppose we're both the same distance from the North London meet ups...only you'd have to come down from the north and I'd have to come up from the south! Still about 50-60 min away. I was looking for SAUK meet ups around here, then I found this one in North London, N7, and finally decided to start this thread...

I haven't been to any meet up yet, but I might do once my holidays start...

You should have come to the Richmond picnic yesterday. I'm 41 and I wasn't the only person in my 40s there

You should also try Shy London. They do regular meetups, both social anxiety workshops and general social meets like walks and restaurants. The age range tends to be a bit older than SAUK as well.

I've joined shy London but every time there's a meet I don't know if it's going to be full of young people or not....have you been to any shy London meetings?

Maybe next time you go to a shy London meet up you can let me know. It's easier to get motivated if I know someone else I 'know' is going to be there! LOL
It's tough for me to do the first step and motivate me to go out, but once I've made the decision I'm usually fine....unless I get there and find a load of teens ...then I'll run a mile!

Hi, I'm from south-west London and in my 40s.
I'd love to meet up with others in my age group. Might try Shy London.
Wanted sooo badly to go to the Richmond Park picnic but I chickened out at the last minute (pathetic).

Hi, glad you're here now!

I didn't go either. It's easier to do stuff when there's at least one other person we 'know' doing it. Let's find our strength in numbers LOL
