Remember you have the option of the "ignore" feature if there's particular people who rub you up the wrong way.

It's not about ignoring, it's about having a section where more serious things can be discussed and hoping people will have enough respect not to turn it into another banter filled snore fest.

^ I can't see that one working unfortunately. Sometimes people here do specify that they would like particular types of responses, but 9 times out of 10 those threads get sabotaged anyway.

Some constructive ideas there though

If we simply have some respect for the op and the spirit of the thread, it should work. Or is that asking too much ?

It's obvious if someone is asking serious questions then to indulge in silly ot banter is out of order.

well usually if i see your threads that you are looking for serious replies i will make a conscious effort to not make too much jokey remarks which could derail the thread into the banterous replies you hate so much.

i think i did fairly well in your casual sex thread but it seems to have now gone down the banterous route anyway, and i dont think i had anything to do with it...

I wasn't directing the "Or is that asking too much ?" at you, it was generally.

All i'm asking is for people to appreciate that certain subjects are important and serious to people, and filling the thread with jokes and banter isn't appropriate or appreciated.

Or the thread has outlived its useful lifespan and probably needed to be closed, anyway. That seems to be what's happening with the casual sex thread. There isn't much left that hasn't been covered.
