Worst pain you've ever experienced?
I was talking about this with someone who had broken ribs and been stung by a weaver fish. Having had the same two I couldn't understand how they thought weaver fish were more painful! So was just wondering what everyone's worst pain was?

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
When I had pleurisy - by a country mile. I have never known pain like it, whenever I coughed I felt like a tiny hand grenade had exploded in my lungs. Every movement was painful, I had to practically crawl out of bed in the morning and couldn't even put my rucksack over my back because of the pain in my lungs.
I live in a fourth floor flat, without a lift, and normally can just bound up the stairs without a thought, but when I had pleurisy I was such a mess, I had to stop about every three or four steps to get myself together. |

Jeez that sounds bad. What causes that? My most painful was when my brace broke, went through one side of my gum... in between teeth... out the other side... also that happened in the afternoon yet my mum took until the next day to take me to see the orthodontist... (who was absolutely fuming and threatened to report her) Just a piece of sharp metal stuck in there overnight.. Oh also had a plant, sharp bit on the end of a long leaf (cannae remember plant name) go into my eye and that was insanely bad. Woke up the next morning with my eyeball stuck to my eyelid, just all dry, meshed together, had to peel them apart was in pain for a couple weeks, every morning it would be glued together like that. Went to a&e and she showed me what i'd pierced by putting this dye in my eye and it was so damn close to my pupil. Insane pains inside my head behind my eye from that for a few weeks. |

[QUOTE=jinny;2365748
nothing on Earth hurts like having a baby. [/QUOTE] I reckon it's really easy.. If men were doing it, we wouldn't even break into a sweat... just flop it out, hand it over ''here's your baby, take care of it, i'm heading back to the office'' |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
^ women always claim giving birth is incredibly painful yet they still have a second child. You wouldn't see a man asking for a second kick in the testicles, unless he's into that kind of thing...

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
Migraine or period pain, both of which have made me throw up (I can only imagine how much actually giving birth hurts!)

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
The time I had a tooth abscess and my jaw swelled up wasn't fun. Nor was the time I had next-level constipation. Being a bit bunged up's one thing, it's another to literally be throwing up from the strain of trying to get things moving an inch. I passed out and bit my tongue, and in a panic phoned 999

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
giving birth is more pain then you can imagine, some women go through it again & again because that overwhelming feeling of love for a little human you created & the bond that you feel in your heart is so magical that some women would go through any kind of pain to get that, someone to unconditionally love forever is a amazing gift.
having a m/c period pain feels like contractions sometimes. & when i had a bad wisdom tooth the pain was so bad i couldnt sleep or sit still. |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
During my teenage years, I had awful ear infections. At one point it got so bad, I ended up staying in hospital for a couple of weeks to have my ears syringed.
That is probably the most agony I've ever been in. Earache / headache is one thing, but this was like torture. I felt like my head was about to explode, and there was no break from it, as painkillers did nothing. Just thinking about how bad the infection got is making me feel a bit ill! |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
My worst was when I slipped a disc in my lower back which then trapped my sciatic nerve. The pain was so intense that my vision went and all I could see was blinding white light for a time. I ended up flat on my back for two weeks straight and could only go to the toilet using a bottle whilst lying flat. It was absolute agony. Even once it did ease I had to hobble to the bathroom on two walking poles I'd bought for when I walked up Mt. Snowdon.

Gallstones are absolute agony
But level of pain is dependant to the individual, pain thresholds and all that. |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
I had an ex-gf tell me that her broken leg hurt far more than her labour pains. But the comments of the other ladies on this thread seem to tell a different story.
I've been lucky with pain so far *touch wood* a hernia op is all I've had. |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
I broke my arm when I was young, it looked like I had two elbows it was so broken. I also fell off a playground slide and fractured my skull. I can't remember the pain though, maybe I blocked it out or I have a poor memory for that sort of thing.

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
Giving birth wasn't that bad for me. I can't remember the pain either. I remember that it hurt but not the actual pain.
I'd rather give birth again than experience a broken bone or bad toothache. |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
I've heard that it's not uncommon to poo on the table when giving birth. It's understandable. Especially when I didn't want to miss the birth by leaving the room.

I once had a really sore tender infected cyst.
It burst open one day and it felt like someone was stabbing me. Once had a migraine . I had to lay on my bed in the dark, it hurt to open my eyes. |

Re: Worst pain you've ever experienced?
^^ Outch! Just the thought of being stabbed in the eye by a dogs whisker makes me wince Dimplesxo!!
I think I***8217;d have to agree that childbirth is the worst pain although some people might think I got off lightly because after 17 hours of excruciating labour pains (that included air, gas an epidural, forceps and a Ventouse) I ended up having to have an emergency caesarean section. However, I would have gone through it all again in a heartbeat for the same reasons AireleeBray described Toothache, leg cramps, stubbing my toe, catching my finger in the door (the list is endless) are all horrendous and of course nothing compares to the emotional pain of losing someone that you love |
