Default My grandma is dieing

She got put in the hospital on Thursday. Came back into her home Sunday. She's 92. She in hospice now, and has a new medical bed.

She's had dementia for 6 years but before Thursday she could walk around fine, now she's just laying there with her head back heavily breathing. And no one thinks she will get better because of age.

My grandma was a nice and strong woman. I've never had anyone close to me die. Now I keep thinking about her throughout the day and each time is like a shot of pain.

I can't begin to even say sorry... By the time I was twelve, I'd gone to as many funerals as I had number of years under my belt - but then I've been fortunate to not really lose anyone since then. Yet I know it's close. Like you, I have a gran who's probably possibly suffering from dementia (dementia was on my Dad's side, and both of my grandparents are dead on that side - during those twelve years I mentioned before - but in this case it's on my Mum's side [we used to be close - my Mum's mum and I - but not so much since I was a teenager and came out as gay]). Still, I know it's going to hit hard for my Mum (even though she never had a particularly close relationship with her Mum). Family stuff, at the end of the day... It's hardest for those left behind to deal with the fallout and the concept of moving on with their lives (when that all that, initially, seems entirely impossible...). You have my sympathies.

92 is a good life. My gran died this year of the same age in similar circumstances. It doesn't sound like she has long left. Try and attend the funeral when it occurs.

My mum has dementia currently, she got it young. It's terribly hard.

Hey everyone I've been reading you're posts, thank you. And I'm sorry for those who are dealing with something similar or have as well. I don't find death natural no matter what anyone says.

Sorry Gomen. I think it's still hard, even when someone has had a long life like your grandmother.
