hiya everyone!
I'm new on here I've suffered with s.a for 9 years, also other anxiety and phobias,I have tried self medicating in the past with alcohol as this gave me confidence, but as we all no it's only Dutch courage,it doesn't actually help,it actually makes things a whole lot worse as the drink became a problem and I was drinking all day and every day to just feel ''normal'',I became an alcoholic and that was an added problem I had which increased my depression and everything else,I finally sorted the drink problem and moved cities for a fresh start,I'm now 7 months sober but I hardly ever leave the house, and I have no family or friends up here,I'm trying a different approach to my problems by signing up here to try and make new friends I also got put on medication 3 months ago,I feel a lot more positive and I'm on the waiting list for c.b.t,hope I haven't bored anyone with my depressing introduction! Lol

Re: hiya everyone!
welcome to the forum. Keep up the great work on giving the booze a wide berth. Found drinking made my SA and depression a whole lot worse - started to become heavily reliant on alcohol when everything else seemed to be falling apart around me. Good luck with the CBT etc - sounds like you're on the road to a better place :trophy2:
