I'll speak to the team and see what they think but in my personal opinion it doesn't need a trigger warning.

It's fairly obvious by the name of the thread title what the thread will contain. Therefore if you are squeamish and don't like looking at photographs of that nature you would simply not look at that thread.

"Post your self-harm wounds" would require a trigger warning, but it wouldn't be allowed in the first place. You can't be triggered to accidentally hurt yourself.

My point exactly. It requires a squeamish warning surely?

Yeah. I'd add [Graphic] to the title or something, maybe.

Good idea Oh, if only we could tempt you back over to the dark side

It'd have to go at the end "Post your body wounds [Graphic]" as "Post your [graphic] body wounds" leaves out those who only have minor wounds they want to show

^Say you'd been sexually abused and had PTSD. Reading someone else talking about sexual abuse could cause you to have a traumatic flashback. You'd want to avoid that, or at least have some control over when it happens, so trigger warnings would be useful for you. Same for suicide, self-harm, and such. Anything that could have serious emotional consequences.

^^ It's also bandied about by "political correctness gone mad" types as proof that people are too sensitive and coddled nowadays. Either because they don't understand who trigger warnings are for, or just don't care.

A range of topics which could trigger flashbacks/painful memories for people should carry a trigger warning on the site. It just gives people a heads up that they may not want to read a particular thread. As David has mentioned, suicide and self-harm topics are examples. Discussions around abuse or death can also be topics which for some people, it may not be in their best interests to suddenly stumble upon without prior warning.

Would the sa and relationships area work for that? It's for all kinds of relationships, including family dynamics, so it could be a good fit.

If he doesn't choose wisely again, we'll be going through the exact same thing for the next six months too

I've got some decent names in mind. All of which are hopefully better than this...

I think you should announce your new name 24 hours before you request the change, to give yourself a cooling-off period.

I have to be careful, given that this name was actually meant to be a joke, not one I actually wanted
