I don't actually think a new subsection will be useful to many people. I've still voted yes, but if I wanted to avoid AMA posts it wouldn't help to move them because I only use the "new posts" view of the forum and that shows everything all the time. It would help if I wanted to see older, inactive AMAs, but I'm only really interested in threads that have had activity since I was last online.
People who only look at certain parts of the forum probably focus on SA advice and meetups. Are there that many people who come here to read the Basement, and then get all grumpy because it has AMA posts everywhere? Being annoyed that "new posts" is half AMAs is a more legitimate complaint I reckon, and one that a new subsection doesn't solve.
Basically people who don't use "new posts" are dinosaurs and shouldn't be catered to.
