This one kept me going a while back:

I found this site the other night while a little bored and thought I would share it, see what you think.

http://www.paulstips.com/

I've only read a handful of the articles so far. I liked the one about love and the relationship with your future self, that kinda popped into my head a few times today while out and about. Some people can have such a fresh and exciting perspective on things.

Are you joking? Of course im not trying to pass them of as my own quotes. Theyre quotes that i wrote down a few years back and keep in my wallet, and ive forgetton where theyre from. I didnt realise we had to give credit to the original source, and surely people can tell from the wording of them that they werent thought up by me.

Some people.

Cool Re: Inspirational quotes/sayings etc

Hi- this is just my second post on this site.

I once came across a funny quote about shyness being the ultimate form of egotism. It's kind of true in a way- by being shy you presume strangers are actually thinking and looking at you in a critical way, when they probably haven't even noticed you in the first place. Kinda gives a good reason to be brave in social situations.

Some interesting quotes on here:

http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_selfrespect.html

Quote:
Anne Morrow Lindbergh:

If one is estranged from oneself, then one is estranged from others too. If one is out of touch with oneself, then one cannot touch others.
Quote:
I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.
Quote:
Marian Wright Edelman:

No one, Eleanor Roosevelt said, can make you feel inferior without your consent. Never give it.

Some more I liked:

On fear:

Quote:
Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive -- the risk to be alive and express what we really are.
On anger:

Quote:
He who angers you conquers you.
On failure:

Quote:
It is very easy to forgive others their mistakes; it takes more grit and gumption to forgive them for having witnessed your own.
These are bloody great, though the ones I've posted are mainly relevant to me at the moment.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

A good analogy I have found is likening OCD to a game of tug-o-war. Instead of continuing to play, just put down the rope and walk away. Don't engage in the fight. You can't lose if you don't play.

Random Quotes:

"I tell you the past is a bucket of ashes." - Carl Sandburg

'Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are, "It might have been." '

"A ship in port is safe...but that is not what ships are made for"

"Who is the happier man, he who has braved the storm of life and lived or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed?***8221;

Judge: The charge is reckless endangerment by means of irresponsible optimism, how do you plead?
Me: Guilty as charged.

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man." -George Bernard Shaw

"This too shall pass."

"Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused"

"When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy.' They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life."

***8220;Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.***8221;
-Mark Twain

"We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances - to choose one's own way."
-Victor Frankl

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
-Plato

***8220;Be Who You Are and Say What You Feel Because Those Who Mind Don't Matter and Those Who Matter Don't Mind.***8221;
-Dr. Seuss

"The infinite possibilities each day holds should stagger the mind. the sheer number of experiences i could have is uncountable, breathtaking, and I'm sitting here refreshing my inbox. We live in trapped loops, reliving a few days over and over, and we envision only a handfull of paths laid out ahead of us. We see the same things each day, we respond the same way, we think the same thoughts, each day a slight variation of the last, every moment smoothly following the the gentle curves of societal norms. we act like if we just get through today, tomorow our dreams will come back to us.

And no, I don't have all the answers. I don't know how to jolt myself into seeing what each moment could become. But I do know one thing: the solution doesn't involve watering down my every little idea and creative impulse for the sake of some day easing my fit into a mold. it doesn't involve tempering my life to better fit someone's expectations. It doesn't involve constantly holding back for fear of shaking things up.

This is very important, so I want to say it as clearly as I can: ****. That. Shit."

-xkcd

"Take wrong turns. Talk to strangers. Open unmarked doors. And if you see a group of people in a field, go find out what they're doing. Do things without always knowing how they'll turn out... You're curious and smart and bored, and all you see is the choice between working hard and slacking off. There are so many adventures that you miss because you're waiting to think of a plan. To find them, look for tiny interesting choices. And remember that you are always making up the future as you go." - xkcd

***8220;I always wanted a happy ending***8230; Now I***8217;ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don***8217;t rhyme, and some stories don***8217;t have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it without knowing what***8217;s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity.***8221;
***8211;Gilda Radner (1946 - 1989)

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." - Mark Twain

"Never be a pessimist. While a pessimist may be correct oftener, an optimist has more fun. And neither can change the march of events." - Robert Heinlein
