Me and my mates (I had mates ) lived in there, playing the arcades and living of 5p and 10p bags of crisps and pandapop. We had to travel on the train, a couple of towns away to play Street Fighter in a chippy. A big bag of chips cooked in beef dripping, can of cheap coke and then burn it all off bashing the hell out of the joy stick and buttons on Street Fighter 2. Wish I could go back. |

Re: Which arcade machine did you shove most coins into?
I could only ever play arcade games on holiday and didn't want to waste my money on something that resembled a game I could play at home so I always ended up on something like this instead
Lightgun games were another favorite. Silent scope and Jurassic park were my favourites. I also liked ultra retro stuff from like, the 50s and 60s, before arcade games had video screens. |

Re: Which arcade machine did you shove most coins into?
Ok, just tried to look up an example, turns out all the stuff I played was from the early 70s. This was great
There was also this giant western shooting gallery that took up a whole corner of the building and when you hit targets these creepy full sized cowboy mannequins fired water pistols back at you. And I do vaguely remember visiting a museum of vintage arcade stuff, which mostly just involved two players competing at turning a crank as quickly as possible but I loved it. They also had those old timey porn viewer things and some creepy dude spending way too much time looking at them. |

I don't remember what it was called but there was this big claw that tried to grab from above. Then there were all these bears. Oh god! So many bears! As if that wasn't sinister enough, some of the bears came armed with an iPod*.

Re: Which arcade machine did you shove most coins into?
I've played most of the games mention so far on various consoles, but as far as arcades go, my favourites (and thus the ones I've spent most money on) are House of the Dead and Time Crisis
I also really like Silent Scope, but I'm pretty good at it so don't need to spend too much |

Re: Which arcade machine did you shove most coins into?
Space Harrier! Our local swimming pool had an I Robot machine for a while, but mostly Xevious IIRC.
Though the true, sad answer is probably those touchscreen multi-game pub quiz machines, if they count. |
