Default St John's wort for depression?

Has anyone tried using St John's wort for depression? Does it actually make any difference?

I tried it and it done absolutely nothing for me, I didn't expect it to help as I had genuine reasons to feel depressed. However, Fluoxetine seemed to help my depressive mood for what ever reason.

I've not used SJW myself so can't comment on its usefulness. What I would add though is anyone already taking antidepressants should not use SJW as well. Doing so can cause serotonin syndrome. I agree with biscuits that you have to be careful what you take this alongside.
