Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
How I'll randomly get the thought 'I should sleep' and immediately want to sleep more than anything else in the world. I can't resist it. If I try, being awake becomes the most irritating, pointless thing imaginable, so there's nothing even to be gained from resisting. All I can do is go to sleep and hope I wake up feeling different.

The constant jumping through hoops to get repeat prescriptions. You know I have SA and yet you make me phone the surgery over and over again. Twats.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
Went to dentist to see hygienist. Not nhs private. You get sent a text with a load of shite about have you got any covid symptoms as they'll have to reschedule. Got there for appointment soon as you walk in reception bloke pounces asking you to antibac your hands....fair enough it's hygienic.
Wait my turn go into small room with hygenist and her assistant. Assistant is coughing spluttering and sneezing and hasn't even got her mask covering her face as it's pulled down. Didn't realise to start with but after a couple of minutes I said sorry can you stop. Got up and walked out. I'm not paying to catch this cretins lurgy **** that. As I walked out I had a go at the receptionist saying bit of piss take you telling me to anti bac my hands then send me into a room with her! |

Was going to start my post with am I the ar£^h£le but I guess I'm not.
Wonder if they'll try sending me a bill? Looks like I'll be googling new dentists for future use as I'm not going back there. |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ haha we need an "am I the arsehole?" thread!
You're not, btw! I seems like one of those jobs where you shouldn't really be in if you're ill because people can be vulnerable etc. But I'm not sure what the policies around that are. I just think we wouldn't go to the dentist as a patient if we were ill. I'd be interested to know if you're sent a bill or not! |

You better watch out
You better not cry You better not pout I'm telling you why, BFG is coming to the dentist He's checking his bill He's checking it twice He's going to find out Who billed him and why, BFG is coming to the dentist Well done, BFG! I would have been the opposite in that situation! The assistant could have gobbed in my mouth and I still would have said thank you! Which is something I need to work on. Or embrace! |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
That does seem odd, even if it was only the assistant, if she was obviously coughing and sneezing she shouldn't have been at work doing that job that day. Unless she had some sort of hayfever or allergies? I guess if you email you could ask to clarify that and say you were unhappy proceeding with the appointment.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
Just received my second summons for jury service in less than three years . I wasn't selected to sit on a case last time (apart from being a potential substitute) and was released from service on day four.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ wow that’s quite soon to be summoned again considering you live in a highly populated part of the country, but I guess it’s over two years so they can. (Double check that it’s been over two years!) You might get chosen this time. I was a juror on two separate trials during my time.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ I was also quite surprised to be drawn from the hat again so quickly. It's been about two years and six months since my last summons and this is my third one. The first was way back in the early eighties so they forgot about me for about forty years .
I'm particularly miffed about this because I've now retired but I'm doing freelance work. On both of my previous jury services my employer continued to pay me whereas this time I won't be able to earn any money while I'm doing my public duty. I've already had to surrender a shift I'd previously agreed to. I'll only get the court's daily allowance which is considerably less than I can earn. First-world problems eh? |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ Yeah, it does kinda suck but at least I've got my pensions coming in. I really feel for the self-employed who get summonsed. That must be really hard trying to support themselves and family (if they have one) on the court's meagre subsistence allowance. Even more so if the case goes beyond two weeks.

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^
I had to drive a total of over 420 miles in my car last time I was on a jury, as I live in quite a remote area out in the sticks, Despite taking time carefully filling out forms to claim some travel money back, I didn't get a penny, Same happened last time I served, Seems like a bit of a con to me. |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)
^ Sorry to hear that Mr. N. That's quite a significant mileage to lose out on. My experiences with claiming what the court owed for jury service had no issues and were efficient too. I guess you were unlucky and fell between the gaps somewhere.

Those flatulent cars that go around making loud farting noises,
Why is it seen as "cool" or exciting to make loud farting noises? It's not tolerated from humans, so why are cars seen as so different? |

Re: Small things that annoy you (3)

I was close to doing that, not initially, but once the details of the case were made clear the usher asks if everyone is still okay to go on, ....I was pretty close to just leaving then, They always keep a couple of alternates waiting in the courtroom until that point in case a juror opts out. |
