^ No I don't think your expectations for life are too high at all. You're really bright and obviously hardworking so there's no reason that you shouldn't progress in the same way as other people.

She said a few things at the end that cleared everything up anyway, and she gave me a few things to do before next week. I'm confident that I can hang on until then, so I suppose that's good.

My sister went back home this morning so I finally have some very welcome alone time.

^ Sounds positive

Please don't allow yourself to get depressed again during your alone time, though. If you start to feel really down again, contact your sis or a medical professional at once!

^^ I'm glad that the appointment with your therapist went okay Jen, and that you've got your place back to yourself

Feeling very emotional and weepy.
My elderly mum isn't at all well. She's been asked to go back to see her Doctor urgently. I'm going to go with her, but I've started to think and fear the worst. I'd rather be ill myself than see anyone I love suffering

^ I'm sorry you are feeling lonely and sad today Dimples. Have some virtual hugs

@ Nanuq, Mo, Choirgirl, AL and Dimples. Thank you so much for your kind wishes. I don't know what I'd do without this supportive place to vent.

I went with my mum to see the GP today and they want her to see a hospital specialist as soon as possible as there's a possibility that she may have cancer. I tried to remain positive in front of her but when I got home I blubbed my eyes out as I ALWAYS think the very worse. We've had our up's and down's over the years but I love my mum dearly and just the thought of possibly seeing her suffer in the way that my Dad did doesn't even bare thinking about

Also my other half is in a huge amount of pain with an infected tooth socket.

This will be one Valentines Day I won't forget in a hurry NOT that we celebrate it in any shape or form as it's over commercialised and horrid. Nonetheless, it's still flipping irritating how folk on Facebook have to brag so much about their amazingly romantic day

Your other half sounds urgently in need of antibiotics! I had a tooth infection once, it was agony.

I don't think I've ever felt so terrible and hopeless in such a long time, I have no idea what's causing this, it isn't valentines day, it's just everything. It has been years since my depression was so bad.

^ Aw I'm sorry that you are feeling so depressed, Utopia, especially as I thought you'd been feeling more optimistic lately. Would it be possible to have some more of the treatment that had previously helped to lift your mood?

@ Dougella - Yep, he needs some antibiotics although getting hold of some at the weekend, or any time, is easier said than done. Apparently a GP won't prescribe them if the pain and fever is originating from a dental problem which all seems a bit daft to me.

@ Nanuq - Yes you are right there. Until further tests can give the all clear it feels like there's a massive great cloud hanging over our heads

@ Kooky Monster - Thank you for your very kind words
I hope you and your cats are keeping well x

Relieved to be back in. Just drove 14 miles or so in the stormy weather. I don't like my car being buffed about by the wind.

Went up to see my old mind mates, was nice.
Sat and chatted for a bit and one by one ppl went leaving me with J and L and randomly some bloke from the cafe (staff) who J has become friends with. He had just finished work and sat down with a beer (the place sells alcohol as well) and had a laugh with us all (and a lot of beers) then J announced she was giving L a lift somewhere and would be back in 10 mins or so. Outwardly I was like oh ok (big smile). Inwardly i was:

Christ leaving me on my own with a complete stranger Thankfully he was beered up at this point and chatty.
He was alright to be fair but I am not wired to deal with situations like that! Well not with 28 year old super confident blokes i'm not.

^^^^^ You should be able to get seen by an emergency dentist if needed and get antibiotics, you might be able to find out how to contact one by phoning your husband's regular dentist (or googling them I guess.)

^ Yes, he managed to see an emergency Dentist today but she refused to prescribe antibiotics because it might interfere with his ability to fight off any other infections that comes a long. Instead she flushed the socket out and advised him to get an electric toothbrush. It's not hurting tonight so, so far so good.

@ Skittles - I know only too well how depression can make you want to cut yourself off from everyone but if you do have supportive family or friends around you then I hope that you can try to keep in touch. From my experience, Depression thrives on isolation and just the distraction of listening to others jabbering on about their own stuff can sometimes provide a helpful distraction from your own thoughts.

I have been experiencing strange blips in confidence for the last couple of weeks. It's like social anxiety turned outward.

I was in a coffee 1 with two of my friends and a few tables over a little dude starts to cough and splutter on some food. I feel his mom's anxiety and see her face so I go over to see if I can do anything. By the time I got over the kid had cleared the blockage himself. I touched his mom on the shoulder to reassure her ( something I would never do ) talk to the kid and go back to my table.

Has anyone experienced your social anxiety awareness antenna thing we do ( kind of knowing when people are looking at you or talking about you ) but turned outward or a surge of self confidence regardless of situation before?

Yeah most of the treatments for depression have had some effect on my mood but it often just gets bad again - I seem to be more level headed but felt about as bad as a person possibly can emotionally, I just wanted it to stop. I took a double dose of my medication and it calmed me down and stopped the severe, squeezing emotional pain in my stomach and chest, but there wasn't any particular thought causing the pain.

If you're a misfit then the world needs lots more mis-fits because then it would be a much nicer place to be.

Feeling like there's a huge cloud hanging over me. I need to sleep because I've got to be up early to take my mum to hospital but I can't switch off my stupid overactive brain. I hate everything about Hospitals, even the smell. Especially the smell...

I did my first stint of mucking out at the sanctuary since my herniated disc thing last Friday. It didn't hurt at the time but since Sunday I've had pain (not the I need codeine kind of pain of before) and the movement on my neck is reduced. Hoping I haven't done anything daft to it. Not sure what to do about this Friday, don't think I can do anymore heavy lifting at the min.
Maybe my mucking out days are over .
