Default When did you stop living with parents?

Hiya

I still live with mine, am 24 next week or week after (soon, anyway).

I am working on a temporary contact with an agency, this is the only paid work I have ever done.

PS sorry about wording of title of thread. Sorry as well, I don't mean uni, I mean living away and staying away.

I was 19 or 20, I was crapping myself leaving my own little space as it was the only place I could be myself I guess. But never had any issues, I've moved 3 or 4 times now since then.

28. It was so good to get out because my relationship with my father was awful. I only moved a few hundred yards away but things got better after that.

Depends if we count uni or not. If we do, then 18, but I came back for holidays.
Then I came back for 10 years.

If we don't count going away then coming back, then aged 30.

I couldn't get away from my family fast enough. I still have to have dinner with them sometimes which is annoying.

19 when I went to university. I needed to get out of there and it's done me so much good living on my own.

Like some others, 18 to go to uni. I didn't go back during holidays and I never went back after uni despite probably really needing to (for money purposes).

If I hadn't have gone to uni I have no idea when I would have moved out but I'm very happy I did.

Like others, 18 when I went to uni but I did come back for holidays. I'll have lived with them for about a year after graduating by the time I move out next month (aged 22).

20 when I went to uni, about 6 months after graduated I then went back for what turned into 4 or 5 months. That didn't go well, it basically ended up in me then not seeing or speaking to my family for another year and a half.

I fell pregnant at 16, I was a right cow at the time being a hormonal pregnant teenager. my mum lived in Yorkshire and my dad married and moved from Cheshire to wales. I fell out with his new wife and ended up moving out at 17yrs. I have since had 3 more children, moved to wales to be nearer my dad and my lovely step mum. Having grown up I have a great relationship with my step mum, I feel really guilty for my behaviour as a kid but we all live and learn, i'm grateful she allowed me the opportunity to make it up to her

When I went to psychological school @ 18, moved back at 20, don't mind living back at home but being in the centre of a big city was more exciting and had more clubs to go to

At 18, went to uni for three years and then came back. Left at 26 'for real'.

I get on OK with my mum but find living at home is a bit like being stuck as a child in an adult's body.

I went to uni at 19, so then. When I was home to visit over Christmas and the summer I always felt immediately suffocated and couldn't wait to get back to my own place. I could never live with my parents again.

I moved out at around the age of 24. Moved back about a year and a half later for a few months then moved out again, permanently this time there is no going back...

I left home at 21 to live with my girlfriend, but that only lasted a year. I moved out of my parents again at 23, and haven't moved back since.

I'd move back if I really had to, but only to avoid being homeless. I get on a lot better with my parents when I'm not living with them.

Can't see myself moving out for ages tbh. Just left uni and am 22 and genuinely wonder whether I'll be gone before 30. If I had someone to move out with, I'd be desperate to go and I know after a while, parents will get on my nerves and my sister may leave soon anyway, but the prospect of living by myself forever is pretty scary and bleak tbh.

I think I was 21 at the time.

My relationship isnt that great living with them, its better when we dont, their great parents from afar. Cant stand them when I got to live with them.

I would never want to live with them unless I was extremely desperate or very very temporary arrangement.

I'd be interested to know as well, I suppose they all had well paid full time jobs. I know where I live you'd need that to buy a property which is why I'm still at home.

Pretty much. If I was renting i'd probably get a 2nd job just so there is incentive to still allow saving for a deposit, otherwise it's just an endless cycle of not getting anywhere.

You could rent a room and save that way, but then you have to live with a bunch of new people, if I was going to do that i'd make sure the room had an ensuite/bathroom.

buying is essentially made for couples or single rich people these days.

Well, it's a trade-off. If you base your success in life purely on how much money you have sitting in your bank account, renting is going to seem like a bad decision compared with living for free with the parents. But if it makes you happier and/or helps you to build a better social life, maybe it isn't so bad.
