Lemons.

In the war against fleas lemon spray is apparently rather useful, so i'm gonna brew up a bunch.

^ I'd have a soak in it if I were you, Spud. Gotta be more effective than spritzing it on like Old Spice

Pfft, i'm not quite hairy enough to house fleas, (obviously) it's the dog whom they dwell upon. Poor little beast is having a rough time as it is with this heat, she barely has the energy to scratch

^ Aww bless her. I've never had to deal with doggy fleas - either personally or on a dog. Do they not have the back of the neck treatment for them like they have for cats? I hope the lemony spritz helps kill the nasty blighters.

Yeah, i know the one, i bought some of that the other day - i'm not sure it's intended for infestations though, and we're verging on one :/

I can testify to this - though it's the oils in the skin of the lemon that they don't like. We had a flea infestation one year, for whatever reason they left everyone alone but me! (and the cat). Lemon does work - though it I don't think it kills them.

D'you know, i was gonna ask of it's effectiveness in the questions thread last night so thanks for that!

I've quartered and boiled four whole lemons up in a pot of water, gonna leave it to stew till late this evening. I was a bit hasty cos i'm reading that most suggest to cut the lemon up in slices ... i might mash them and re-boil

^^I think I just boiled slices of the lemon skin (minus the pith) . It made a syrupy- ish kind of solution. After a quick google, at the time, I think I just made it up as I went a long

Syrupy? How long did you boil for? Mine still look largely intact, i only boilt them for 30-40mins. Yeah, i've made it up too, i'm reading about adding apple cider vinegar - seems to be the remedy for everything these days!

Hmm I'm not sure I can remember, a fair while probably 30 - 45 mins. I didn't use a massive amount of water mind you. When I say syrupy I don't mean it was thick like syrup, just had a funny sticky-ish odd texture to it.

haha yeah. I bought some a while back but never got round to using it, and I've now forgotten what it was I was wanting to 'cure'

Hmm, i've probably used too much water if anything, shouldn't make much difference. Maybe your lemons were .. a bit funny.

Haha, maybe you should have a little google to see what you can use it for

Butterflies have got smarts - any time one has flown into the house, barely as it's gotten through the door, it's done some fluttery turnaround move and gone back outside!

It's what I've assumed Our garden used to be filled with them in the summer, but now I'm lucky if I see one when I'm sitting out there.

'a bit funny'

I just had a google. Hmm I see the results are mostly for flea 'spray', whereas what I was making was more of a rub it on and it'll keep fleas away. Noticed Rosemary is a natural flea repellent as well.

You should get a flea trap - we use them in the cattery, the bulbs are the same temp as a warm body and so attracts the fleas where they then get trapped and killed. The seem to work at the sanctuary.

That I definitely made the right decision regarding car.
I drove it to town the s'morn to get it a wash and polish in sainsburys. The more I drive an automatic the more i'm liking it. My only gripe is moving off sometimes from stop at junctions and roundabouts can be bit slow/accelerator needs some wellie. That aside...i'm wondering why I didn't change to an automatic sooner . Tis a Doddle.

How loud pubs terrify me.
Not that I go in any but seeing footage of football fans ' celebrating' and going baserk like last night , makes me feel quite intimidated. I don't understand it all

I don't like loud pubs either and I'm a football fan, the crowds and noise make me feel like a fish out of water.

They are great

I find manuals so archaic, like manually changing bloody cogs

It's like driving a go kart, I do worry if the mechatronic unit in mine decides to throw its toys out the pram one day how costly its going to be but I'm putting a lot of faith in the fact most German things seem to be fairly well made

Yeah, being 2018 you'd think they'd be no such thing as manual gears, lol.
I do think you lose some power with autos and maybe have less control (course that could just be cause my car's bloody old ) but as I'm - and most average drivers I guess, are just driving from A to B it's more than adequate. Anything that makes life easier is

The irony that I was driving a truck where the back was a freezer but I had no air con in the cab.

To be fair I never drove when the "older" autos were about so I don't really know what they were like

My car is 2014, the only beef I've got is it tries to be clever and preempt the next gear I want (hes slowing down, best get the next gear down ready to go) ..then you don't need to slow down (like, it turns out you can get out at that roundabout!) ..so you put your foot back down and it doesnt do much for a second one day I'll fiddle around with the paddles to manually shift up but it takes away the whole auto laziness/fun

Wondering what happened to the robin chicks that were nested in the garage. I've just been out there cos i had to move a tv from my car (on the drive) into the garage and as i was lumbering it in through the door i spotted some little, funny coloured lump in the middle of the floor. It didn't take long to realise what it was, and then i found another one nearer the door - i was lucky not to have stepped on it. Both dead, both seemingly unharmed, no clues - the nest, in a top corner, seemed okay. I can only assume that it had gotten too hot for them and they had to flee or die of dehydration
