Default DVD Ripper!

Hi, Barry Scott here asking for advice on DVD Ripping software. I have recorded some of my finest commercials and other TV broadcasts using my set-bottom DVD Recorder but I'd like to get them off the disc and onto the computer so I can edit them.

Anyone got any ideas for good FREEWARE DVD Rippers? I have some video editing software already.

Handbrake is by far the best program I've used for DVD ripping, unfortunately it is mainly for mac (and linux if you compile from source) - but there is an experimental M$ version for download. BTW, this doesn't just rip it compresses into divx format.

Using my MacBook, I downloaded handbrake and attempted to rip a fraggles episode, but the file was blank
Could this be due to some kind of protection?

Thanks. I hadn't actually tried more than one DVD with Handbrake. I tried it again just now with a flaming lips DVD and it worked
But if another DVD doesn't work with it, I'll try one of your recommendations.

AutoGK is a good one, just make sure if you're using it to set the predifined size to 1 CD otherwise it'll end up all out of synch.
