I don’t think this is considered self help but I guess it’s good advice. Actually makes me feel encouraged to explore career feels I might be interested in as it puts less pressure in being good at them. |

5 Problems With the Self-Help Industry
The first point is something I've thought for a while. I'm definitely a "bad to ok" person and I've felt for ages that most self help is targeted much more towards "ok to great" people. All the success stories I read seem to be from people who fall into to the latter category. I go through phases of becoming obsessed with reading different self help material and it always makes me feel like shit. A lot of the self-help that focuses on developing social skills seems to be particularly bad. All those alpha male grindset YouTube videos that supposedly teach you how to be more charismatic etc. should be avoided like the plague, they're absolute poison. |
