I wish I knew how to be more assertive and not keep being coerced in to doing things I don't want to

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I***8217;ve recently celebrated another birthday. Although when I say celebrated, what I really mean to say is that I shook my fist at father time for continuing to erode my once good looks. But that***8217;s life I guess. Although getting older does make you appreciate that we are all on a conveyor belt and it***8217;s possible that at the end of that conveyor belt is nothing more than an empty void of non existence. And on that happy note, how about that weather we***8217;ve been having recently. I tell ya, having sunny weather is fantastic!
As for what else I***8216;m thinking about, I wish I could do a tour of the universe. It just feels like I***8217;m missing out on so much. I wanna see it all! Although that would probably require A LOT of socialising. Umm, yeah, on second thoughts, I***8217;m happy to stay where I am. And besides, there***8217;s still plenty of places for me to explore on this planet. Like Japan for instance. Although I***8217;m mainly basing that trip on wanting to use the futuristic toilets they have over there. Then again wanting to travel over 6000 miles, so that I can use a toilet that has a lot of buttons attached to it, and then heading right back home afterwards, might seem like a wasted trip to some people. So to show that I***8217;m adaptable, I would also be willing to visit a japanese karaoke bar. Now I think I've already mentioned my appreciation for karaoke in another post. Why I might appreciate singing in front of a room full of Japanese people, while I***8217;m completely wasted on sake, I have absolutely no idea. But sometimes I think it***8217;s best not to overthink these things..... I also think this would make for a perfect drunken karaoke song: And when I***8217;ve finished singing that song, I will then be able to throw up into that futuristic toilet. So it's a win win situation for me |

Good god I need to stop cutting my own hair. I look like feckin Snape. Tbf though it's a price I'm almost willing to pay to avoid the expense / anxiety / disappointment of the hairdressers. So I guess I'll just be snapeing it up till I can afford one of these bad boys:

Yeah, you do have to pay unfortunately, well mostly. Scotlandspeople is a kind of PAYG where the index is now free but you need credits to see a record. Ancestry is subscription - not so good for Scotland nor is Findmypast which is also subscription but may still do credits. There both good for things like passenger lists, military documents and stuff like that and English/Welsh records. Familysearch church of the LDS can be a good starting point for 19th century and back. Free though usually no images, it's still a good site to find ancestors/connections. Ireland is very tricky as they destroyed many of the censuses and just for good measure they burnt the record office during the Irish civil war in 1922 destroying a hell of a lot. Civil records have remained intact and are now online for free at irishgenealogy, parish records are a bit more hit and miss, many haven't survived and usually cost, tho catholic parish records are slowly coming online for free. 1901 and 1911 census is online for free as is the Ulster Covenant, Griffith valuation etc.. There's lots of others and even more by area. If you can find other ppl who are searching for the same ancestors you can open a gold mine of info. I've found loads of other researchers i'm connected too around the world. Ancestry is good for this, so is genesreunited. Too long! Probably for about 18 is years off and on (there's always something new to find/look for). Haven't done any for a very long time up till recently. I think I like solving mysteries/problems as much as anything, lol. Or finding out surprising things. Has helped me pass the time in past spells of being trapped in the house with sa. |

^ Thanks for the tips Mo I might give it a look, I've always thought paying would be worth it to find any information. It's just remembering when I have some spare cash going
My Mum's side has actually tried but I don't think they got very far (I don't know them to ask). My Grandad was a German prisoner of war so I'd be so interested in knowing more about his life and family there, he never talked about it. |

Tor is a pain in the arse IMO. I can vouch for AirVPN, barely notice any speed loss and often don't notice when I've left it on when playing online You can create a profile for the OpenVPN app easily too

Is having butter on my Weetabix instead of milk really such a strange thing to do?

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
When I was little I used to put jam on Weetabix and eat them like biscuits It was a bit on the dry side

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Are you supposed to eat Weetabix while they're still dry and crunchy? I used to slather sugar over them and eat the wheaty grey sludge that remained after the milk was absorbed. It was like the sort of stuff they'd eat in a dystopian future where all food comes in mush form.
