Made it to support group today. Almost talked myself out of it this morning, but glad I powered through now.

fixed a lock/handle on a door to a tea room portacabin building while about fifty odd blokes were sat having their tea break. most of them loud scary blokes who looked like they could pull your arms off like twigs.

well done gloriousbirds and bfg.

At the charity shop it was just me and another volunteer who ive tried to chat to before but to be honest we both struggled and i think it made us both a bit more tense around each other. Today we managed to have a reasonably smooth flowing chat although there were a few awkward silences and im fairly sure she also struggles talking as it felt like me she was having to try quite hard with it.

Earlier some books fell off my shelf and i found some of my stuff back from my 2nd lot of cbt, amongst which was a self help guide which contained a page with goals id set myself. Which included take the dog for a walk alone, go for a walk alone, go to a crowded place on my own and various others. I can now do them all without a 2nd thought and did most of them today which made me see how much better i am now than i once was, but it still feels like ive got a fair way to go to be where i want eg get a job and some kind of social life but im sure i can get there eventually so it helped with the lack of motivation ive been feeling the past week.

Went for a job interview yesterday, first in 11 years and I came away really proud of myself...sure I was anxious but strangely confident and that has been a theme of late, I think I am reconnecting with the person I was before the anxiety got the upper hand. When I got home from the interview I had an email saying how they'd like me to come in tomorrow for 3 hours to go into more detail about the role. It was great being seated opposite 2 interviewers and being in control of my body, no shaking, no losing control of the volume of my voice, no sweating, no going red, the odd brain fart but even then the panic never set in. I write this not to brag or anything, only to remind myself as the post anxiety low has set in and it's important to keep the facts clear in my mind as the worries are just lies, ALL LIES, you did great bugger lugs

You should go for it, ive found learning to drive fun and has helped with my confidence and self esteem. It isn't cheap but ive viewed it as an investment and hopefully it'll help with getting a job, plus it means no more sitting near undesirables on the train or waiting in the pissing rain because theres a crisp packet on the line.

Doesn't come across as bragging at all, you should be proud of yourself i don't think anyone really enjoys interviews even those without sa problems, i still have problems with the volume of my voice going high pitched sometimes and me sounding like a girl quite embarrassing but luckily it doesn't happen too often.

Arranged my first horse riding lesson! This is something I've done in the past and then bottled it at the last minute, not so much cos of nerves about handling the horse, but the social aspects of meeting people. But I'm determined to stick with it this time as I really want to learn to ride.

Thanks Tabitha. I can't wait to spend some time with horses. Would love to ride Western style eventually - that's my goal. Nice Buddha quote by the way.

Melissa, well done for keeping going even though you're feeling low. Activities like walking the dog are exactly the things that help break up the negativity. It's easy to ruminate, and I myself am only slowly learning to spend as little time in that place as possible and finding positive distractions. For years I have instead picked apart every traumatic event that happens to me and this always makes things worse.

I went to KFC with my crush from work for lunch today. It wasn't even my idea either, it's really nice to get invited to do things. I think I'm firmly in that friend zone though rather than anything more.

I booked an eye test at the opticians. My eyesight seems to be deteriorating at long distances, and I may need glasses, if I'm learning to drive.

Really good, well done, I remember how challenging it was to contribute anything more than a simple one-worded answer at uni. So well done for pushing yourself

Awesome, where are you going? And seriously, try your best to resist the temptation to not go, I'm sure you'll feel great for having gone afterwards

Got my eyes tested, and got an opticians prescription. I also picked up a driving license application form from the post office.

Performed with the singing group I've been going to today. It was a pretty small gathering; I don't think I could've been more scared, barring Freddy Kruger being in the audience or something. I wasn't gonna go through with it, so of course I ended up front n bloody centre! I don't remember that much, went rather spacey, but there was definitely some clapping at the end and I didn't vomit halfway through so that's quite good.

Went to tesco during the day (which I usually avoid). It was sunny so a lot of people about & I felt very out of place & uneasy, but at least I went so that was good.. also I bought a cardigan which meant I had to use the normal (as opposed to automatic) checkout & actually interact with humans, which was also progress too, I guess.

My vacuum cleaner wasn't working properly so instead of giving up and berating the universe for making life so difficult and resigning myself to a dusty life, I carefully cleaned all the filters and then removed the hoses and cleaned them all out (hint: for a long hose you can use a broom handle or run it under a tap). Now it is working perfectly again. Nothing to do with SA of course, but still quite a remarkable achievement I think you will agree.
