Would winning the lottery make you happy?
If so what would you do with your winnings?

Ooooh would invest money in creating my own business's. I would HAVEto keep on working or I'd be so bored. Would launch my own brand and stores etc.
Then I'd get the best house with like a swimming pool, cinema room, massive staircase and I'd buy loads of nice things to put in it! I would also give some to charity the ones that are less well known that need it, and buy stuff for my family eg my parents a nice house in the country so they could retire. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Yes, winning the lotto would make me very happy. I want to win the lottery for two reasons;
1) So i never have to work another day in my life 2) So i can buy a secluded house out in the countryside away from annoying people |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Only if I use the money I win to enhance my life for the better and also help other people. There would be a chance that I will still be miserable, single and lonely despite winning.
I'm sure some people who have won the lottery have wasted the money away and ended up worse of mentally. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
A cousin of mine in his 20s won the jackpot on the lottery a few years ago, not sure of the exact amount (never been told), but it's at least a few million. He's gone from living in his parents council house to owning his own house with a few acres of land and never has to work again in his life. He bought his mother (among other things I suppose, that i'm probably not aware of) a new car worth about £25,000.
Damn right it would make me happy. I would invest it in property, buy cheap houses do them up and then sell them for triple the price, or at least rent them out. Would be quite hard for me to win it though because I dont even play it. The odds of you winning are ridiculous and apart from the odd lucky few it is just another type of tax in my opinion. Once you're in, especially doing a set of your own numbers you're hooked for life..and will probably never get anything for it. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Might in the short term if I won a large amount - for example I could really do with a holiday and a break from all the stress. Also I could afford to learn how to drive which would be a bonus. Not an exhaustive list of course; there's things I'd want to do for family also.
Long term, probably not. I'd still have my personal problems. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Yes cause I would be able to buy stuff i want. It sucks having no money.
But then i would like to have ppl who don't use me for things like money and enjoy my company just cause they like me. At the end of the day i don't need a million pounds but enough money to get what i want/need and to live comfortably. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
So many things I'd like to do. I guess it would all depend on how much I won, but here are a few ideas;
One thing I'd do for sure would be to build a large dog shelter in central Ireland. I'd buy a good few acres of land surrounding it, so they would have plenty of room for dog walking, runs or even expansion if the need arose. I'd also buy a small fleet of vans for them, so given the location, they could easily service the whole country. It would be a charity, so much of the staffing would be voluntary, but I'd definitely consider employing a few of the most dedicated. So they can earn a living from something they enjoy doing. I'd buy/build a house for my Mum. She has mobility problems, so it would be tailored to her needs. It'd have a pool and a physio room. I'd buy/build my own house, nothing palatial, but respectable and with enough land for whatever projects I can dream up. (an airstrip or a helipad might be nice) I'd have a garage big enough for a few cars, and I'd set about populating it in due course. A T3 backbone connection would be nice too. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
I think winning the lottery would make me more secure but i don't think money alone would completely solve my problems.
Not completely sure what i would do with money as have difficulty thinking of and focussing future goals but depending on size of win(Euromillions roll over for example) would share 1/2 amongst family, buy a house for my brother and i to live in, donate some to local homeless charity and mental health charities. Not interested in the clichéd sports car or world cruise so those would not be on my shopping list. Maybe also invest some in my eldest step daughter's cafe . |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
thinking about it, i would probably pay for the top of the range health care to help with my SA. i would probably want to donate to help others with SA too.

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
i'd use the money to pay for tuition just to do some random degree so i could stay in the UK a bit longer. that would definitely make me happy lol. would also find a proper place to live, a nice flat on my own and with bf perhaps. not sure what kind of area i would want to live in. also get a part time job rather than working my ass off full time with nothing to show for it. travel a bit making sure i could 'get away from it all' a few times a year.
if i went back home and won the lottery i would distribute it amongst my close family, put away a sum for retirement, invest i guess (although is that useful in current times i don't know - perhaps invest in Gold). then same stuff, work part time and get a nice place to live, and travel. I suppose it would help if i actually played the lottery though oh and i would definitely pay for the best acne treatment available. fix this damn face of mine |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Yes it would, don't know for how long though. I'd make sure I wouldn't do the usual thing of blowing it all in one go and sit down and have a good think about how to invest it and ise it to improve my life. I'd obviously use some of it for a nice house and nice car and give some to people but then I'd use it to get the best SA treatment available and then perhaps do a dragons den style thing and invest in a local company or entrepreneur or something.
Though long term it probably wouldn't last happiness wise.As much as girls might actually get with me, I'd hate to be with someone who loves my money rather than me and how I'd gwt friends who liked me rather than just for my money I don't know. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Yes definitely.
I would never have to work another dead end job, could study if I wanted to, but mostly my partner and I would travel the world...visit every single country, come back to visit family whenever or fly them out to see us. We'd buy a house by the sea somewhere, away from society and with some land to grow vegetables, keep a cow and sheep and chickens and spend our days walking, swimming, surfing, arts and crafts, cooking, baking...all the things we want to do but can't because of no time or no money. I'd also ensure our families had comfortable houses, and donate a chunk to various charities. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
It'd give me more of a reason to stay alive.
I'd help out my parents, get my own place, a 200+ mph super car just for the hell of it. Get an amazing huge screen tv, hmm maybe my mansion will already have a cinema room? Find myself a woman, maybe she'll just be with me for my money, but at least I'll be getting some physical intimacy for the first time in my life! Actually it'd be really sad if a gimp like me won it. |

Re: Would winning the lottery make you happy?
Well it would certainly help me stop worrying!
I'm not totally sure what I'd do with the money. I think I would want to change my lifestyle a bit. At the moment I freelance twice a week so I would stop that and work on something that means more to me like writing. I'd keep the job I have three days a week because I find it interesting. I'd probably use the money to kickstart certain changes in my life as well. As bad as it sounds, I'd probably hire a cleaner to make my house nice and then try to maintain that! I'm not sure it would make me happier all in all, though. |
