Default National anthems

Watching Euro 2012 allowed me again to share my love for other countries national anthems when played at the start Here are a few of my favourite anthems sung down the years. Just a quirky interest of mine

France

Germany

Spain

Only realised in Euro2012 that Spain anthem officially does not have any words

Reminds me of the time when Talksport were running a segment on the lack of national pride shown by certain England players due to their failure to sing the national anthem. I think it was Darren Gough who said at least we're not as bad as the Spanish side, where every single player had failed to sing theirs. Doh!

I like all the ones on here so far (except Germany). The Italian anthem is great too. The footballers get well into it.

Gusto!

I dont like the Italy one as much, but yes all players sing it and they are ultra passionate about their anthem! I like to see that, nothing wrong with being patriotic sometimes. Its just occasionally it gets muddled up with fascists etc..

Madonna is quoted as saying that Zamorano was one of the sexiest players in the 98
worldcup. I take that to mean every time she saw him she thought of sex. nice.

Zamorano is the man! Great anthem to .. but im biased.

Love the brazil and Italian national anthems also.

I think rugby players are the most passionate about their anthems compared to other sports. I remember when England played Ireland at Croke Park some of the Irish lads were actually in tears during their anthem.

Oh i read that as Maradona for a second there, but then I've had a few drinks tonight. Zamorano is fantastic though. Why are you biased, are you part Chilean?

Yeah the Brazil and Italian anthems are favourites of mine too.

Tragically, one of my favourite things is watching the look on peoples faces when they f*** national anthems up at sporting events, like the Kazakhstan/Borat thing at some sporting thing this year and the "Deutschland uber alles" bit of the German national anthem that occasionally sneaks in.

But, all time favourite national anthem moment was the Commonwealth games somewhere between 1990-1998 when a boxer from Northern Ireland won and the PA broke, so the PA guy just got up and sang Danny Boy.

That is brilliant

'God save the Queen' isn't very rousing I don't think. It's too outdated, they should switch it to something like 'Jerusalem' like in the Commonwealth Games.

Yeah im slightly biased because im half Chilean on my dads side. Even if i wasnt chilean id still think Zamorano was a complete legend and that a great anthem.

Theirs a story about Harry Rednapp getting a tape of Ivan Zamorano singing the Chilean anthem and he made all the Westham players sit down and watch it.
