Self-Soothing
I think everyone Self-Soothes.
And it can be a prevalent way in society: - To get drunk as a way of self-soothing - To over-eat as a way of self-soothing. -Some people engage in sexual activity. So comes the question- how do you self-soothe in a perhaps less destructive way. So I googled. Answers were interesting. A Ask Men reddit came out with this: Quote:

Re: Self-Soothing
Sleeping hehe seriously having a sleep routine is one of the biggest factors for me. I stayed up late last night and now I feel like bum.
Sniffing nice smells - it helps me to relax. I mean normal things. I don't go round sniffing people and things in public spaces. Having a nice warm shower. Snuggling with my cats. When they sit on my lap and purr. Their purring is very soothing. Being at the seaside and listening to the waves. There's a field I take my dog to and the sound of the wind in this one tree in particular is very soothing. Sitting in the garden with a lovely cup of tea when it's a little bit chilly and feeling the glow and warmth of sunshine on me. So for me it seems to be sounds, smells and warmth that soothe me. I really enjoy those feelings. |
