Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
113.
I'm always suprised at how severe my SA is...when I look at it objectively. I don't know why...it's effected my whole life. Or is that affected? whatever |

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
you shouldnt get depressed about online tests they arent definate , they cant really tell you exactly how bad you are, they are just genral questions that give you a guide to how bad you may be.
mine was 72 by the way. i think this is a bit high really as now im not so much anxious unless i have to do something infront of people like doing a presentation for example. I just tend to avoid everything i possibly can, i guess thats why its high, im more depressed than anxious. |

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
62 and what I expected. I had a relapse recently and have been working hard to gain lost ground so I am pleased with this result. My problems are not socially related in themselves but relate to my competance and judgement by others.

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
Scored:
1st test: 38 (fear) + 29 (Avoidance) = 67 Then I thought, well I lot of those answers I was guessing/don't apply to me so... 2nd test: 33 (fear) + 28 (Avoidance) = 61 Also, some of those answers changed depending on circumstances... For example I won't be able to eat in front of certain people, which is quite rare these days, and yet I will actually WANT to eat with people most of the time. It can be quite Jekyll and Hyde. I'm a high scoring moderate SA guy I guess, but I've improved so much in the last year I'm not concerned overly with the test... |

It all varies, though. There's no one set rule for all. |

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
84. 46 fear 38 avoidance.
I tried it twice first time I got 90. (with my pessimist head) But I thought about different questions again and thought oh I do better than that in those situations now, so tried it again and its 84. Still surprised I am in the severe category. I have come a long way. I know I have particular issues like public speaking, avoid at all costs, group activities difficult still. |

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
Well I started this poll partly because I am conducting a study on social anxiety as part of my dissertation for university. I have now had 76 replies from people there so thought I'd give the results (so far!) for them:
Mean score: 50 (with SD of 21) The scores ranged from 8-115 There were 27 people with a score above 55 (which according to the questionnaire is 'moderate SA'). So 36% of people at my university apparently have moderate SA!!! 24% have 'marked SA' 11% have 'severe SA' 3% have 'very severe SA'. Seeing as these percentages are extremely high (compared to what most studies suggest) I can either conclude that my university is full of socially anxious people, or (more likely) that the interpretation of the scores given on that website aren't entirely accurate. Therefore if you scored highly it may not be so bad. |

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
Hi everyone, I scored 66 (marked social phobia), 36 for fears and 30 for avoidance. Actually I am feeling pleased now. Although there is still a lot of room for improvement of course!

Re: Your Social Anxiety Score
To all those people that think their score is high and are worried about it:
When I gave this questionnaire out to university students: They had an average score of 55 (which according to the questionnaire is 'moderate SA'). So 36% of people at my university apparently have moderate SA!!! 24% have 'marked SA' 11% have 'severe SA' 3% have 'very severe SA'. As it's highly unlikely that 36% of the people at my university have SA the categories for the score are obviously flawed! In the other examples of this questionnaire I have not seen such categories so I do not know where these came from. The scores can be between 0-144 so it's better just to base it on that. Plus, some of the questions are a bit iffy to me. Who DOESN'T get anxious before taking a test?!!!!! |
