Default SA-friendly jobs

A place where people can post SA-friendly jobs you've seen. For example:

Job: Medical Records Clerk
Location: Watford
Source: Indeed website
Pay: £ 7+
Role: Sort patient records out etc
No experience needed

Oooh how did the interview go Mark09 ?
If so do you think someone with SA could do what they ask ?
If your answer is positive , which i hope it is then maybe other Sa'ers can look at Medical Records clerk/Officer as a potential avenue for employment

Yes, I've done both, but only one year stints for each. I recommend it highly.

Problem I had was and have is lasting in a job. I'm a good worker but after a year or two I get tired and lose my concentration and it really affects my ability to function.

Not a specific advertisement for a job per-say; but freelance writing is pretty easy to get into via sites like freelancer.com.

I had a stint for a couple months writing for a tattoo company for £300+ a week. unfortunately the work is very on and off.

For those who have been unemployed for a long-time, this could be the start of a discussion point for your CV; if you acquire some experience writing. I know previously the lack of work experience only fed into my anxiety and perpetuated my avoidance behavior for looking for jobs at first.

I dont know if this us suitable, but it might help somebody.

There is a CV writing company called Career Pathfinders (i know the founder and can vouch for 1st class service). Not only can they assist you in writing a cv and cover letter that is perfect what you want, they can also help with interview tips and even filling in applications. If anyone out there is like me, then you know just how much of an anxiety fueller filling in forms really are! There's loads of other writing services available too!!

They're on Facebook and you can also Google them. I really hope this helps someone!!

I'm an audio typist. I wear headphones and type recorded interviews all day. This type of work could be suitable for some people.

Working for Lionhead or Leapforce as a website evaluator is something that you can do from home. It is only part time though.

Cisco Network Engineer is my aim. Apparently mostly involves sitting back monitoring routers, that is something I can live with

Working as a typist doesn't sound too bad. There's a job in Barnsley for £7.00 ph for an agency who are use by the NHS.

I was thinking a copywriter or proofreader might not be a bad idea for someone with SA either.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Warehousing, your quite secluded and can just get on with your work. Nightshifts at supermarkets,. A lorry driver, most of the time your on your own so guess that would be good.

Think it ranges from 7 to like 10 pound an hour depending on store and what hours you work. I haven't done it, so I don't know just know people who have. Better pay than if you worked during the day.

Those who do drive, how in the world do you do that? When I see cars swerving through the double-parked streets, going for what seems like an unavoidable head-on collision and then at the last moment finding that little spot to slide into and pass each other, I gasp in awe. I've got a driving license myself, but only because I lucked out on my third attempt. I'm 100% sure I will kill somebody on the first day if I drive alone. When I'm under pressure to not be that slow and annoying driver, my judgement leaves the premises.

the thing with SA friendly jobs is I would be aware of my avoidance of other people and be very self critical. being aware of being in that artificial bubble.

Just been on that freelancer.com it seems a bit of a scam to me. You have to bid on projects you want to do and buy them! What happens if you cannot fulfil the commitment and what happens if they don't pay you? Too risky

I think you have misunderstood freelancer. When you place a bid, you are not buying the project, you are making an offer, saying "I will do the job for ... this amount." But you might be right about the possibility of not being paid though, could be a potential problem, and fear of possibly not being able to complete the job is what has put me off using it.

Selling on eBay is quite good for the socially anxious. You don't have to actually face your customers. You need to practice a bit first though before going into business. Just sell a few items that you no longer need to get a feel for what to do and how to list items and best way to ship them.It does require a lot of biting your tongue when you get a potential scammer who's after you stuff for free though although most customers are genuine.Although don't rely on it full time as people's shopping habits change throughout the year. I make around 6000 a year selling clothes on eBay and I really enjoy it although I'm having to look for a part time job as well to make up for what I'm not earning. If you have the ability to know what will sell and what won't, that's half the battle. I would love to do this full time and earn loads of money but it's knowing what will sell and knowing about the product your selling as well.

That's what would put me off. Part of my SA is thinking that I'm just not good enough or able to do the job even though I know I can be quite artistic when it comes to blogs and putting thoughts into words

Great thread. Here are some I can think of.
Lab technician, data entry, post man/ woman, warehouse etc.
I find it really sad though because our anxiety holds us back from progressing when on paper we would be able to do so many things.

I get myself into a right state just looking at jobs and I feel sick when I'm actually applying for them lol. I have a permanent lump in my throat which will only go when I take my anti anxiety meds. I've searched for all the jobs you've listed apart from the warehouse ones where I think there would be loads of people!!!!! It's sad because I have a diploma and 5 nvq's all wasted

I've done my cv with them and downloaded it to my desk top so I can just print it off or send it. I've had to adapt several to fit each job I'm applying for which took me hours cause I hate bigging myself up and I cringe when I have to say I'm good at something because with SA you don't even feel like you deserve a job
