Default Not being invited along to something

Does anyone else find that they are left out of meet ups with friends?

Yesterday one of my friends had casually suggested that we meet up for a bbq this evening, which would have been fab because of the weather. But this morning I got a text saying that they had all arranged to go off to the beach this afternoon instead.

So the bbq has been cancelled and I haven't been invited to the beach meet up. Am I over reacting by feeling upset over this?

Was the text re. going to the beach possibly an invitation in itself?

ie she was telling you about the change of plan so you could come along.

Just a thought

Hi Louise,

This tends to happen with me and yes it does still get to me sometimes. Nessa's explanation could still be plausible though and you had just received a casual or badly worded text that was meant to also be an invite, I mean why would someone tell someone else they were going somewhere without any intention of inviting them?? Seems strange..

Cheers for the advice. I've texted back to check just incase i've gotten my wires crossed

The impression that I got was that they had decided to head off to the beach earlier today instead of a bbq tonight. And I wasn't asked to go but rather told that the plans had changed. Seems a little odd

What did the text say exactly, I think you've read it wrong.

If they weren't inviting you to the beach they would just have said the bbq is cancelled.

Texts can be mis-read. Are you sure maybe this isn;t you being paranoid?

Maybe you should have text back saying something like "ok I;d be up for that, what time are you going?" but I guess then you may feel like you'd invited yourself and still weren't welcome.

Ok, well I double checked and I did mis-read the text a little so thanks everyone for the advice to double check. That's the problem with texts. I miss the days when people used to pick up the phone...much easier!

Well my best and only friend never invites me with his circle of friends. But only when theres no one else, or if i suggest, then no one else usually goes. He doesnt make an effort.

I know how you feel

It's horrible to feel left out. Your friend should definitely be making more effort to include you
