Re: Dieting and exercise :)
I've always been an emotional eater, so I've turned to food in tough times. My worst weight was around 16st 4lbs. I had CBT a couple of years ago and I vowed in session to get myself fitter and lose weight. I used to be quite fit back in the day with weight training and I was a good short distance runner too. In school I could run 100 metres in 11 seconds. Over the years I'd let myself go because I was emotionally messed up.
Anyway, when in CBT I decided to start running again and to cut back on eating junk. I've always ate good food, but I atye a lot of junk alongside it too. Often 2,000 calories a day in chocolate alone. My joints aren't what they used to be so I keep the runs down to a few runs of around 2 miles in any given week. I've also blown the dust off the old dumbells. I was on the scales today and I'm 13st 1lb. Not bad seeing as I had a tapas blow-out in Barcelona the other week. I feel and look so much better, and I have an exercise routine that is managable and sustainable. My aim is to get down to around 12.5st and I know I can do that quite easily now. Only problem is that I have to buy new clothes as my old stuff is too baggy now. Lost a lot of weight Yes Gained muscle Some Are you fitter Yes Slimmer Yes More confident Yes, but that's down to psychological work too Gained weight if you wanted to N/A Starting to enjoy the gym Don't use a gym. Don't need to |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
Lost a lot of weight- No
Gained muscle- No Are you fitter-Don't think so Slimmer- Slightly More confident -No Gained weight if you wanted to - N/A Starting to enjoy the gym - Not a gym user Not really into acquiring muscle as a part of slimming. Don't really want anything that accentuates my maleness. Don't exercise. Commercial exercise routines are too frenetic for me to keep pace with/not suited to my poor co-ordination. Have yet to find a routine that's suited to me. Then there is the issue of poor motivation even if I did find one. |

Gained muscle - Yes. Are you fitter - I would say so, yeah. Slimmer - Aye. More confident - No I wouldn't say so. Gained weight if you wanted to - Haven't lost any, more or less. Starting to enjoy the gym - Never been to the gym; completely unnecessary and a waste of time. |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
Have you:
Lost a lot of weight - Umm since Sept '15 I have lost just under a stone. (put a bit back on over Xmas but am back on track). Gained muscle - not noticeably, but wasn't trying too. Are you fitter - yeah a bit. A lot to do with helping at an animal sanctuary. You do a lot of physical work without realising it/thinking about it (stables etc)which helps me a lot. Slimmer - somewhat (want to lose more tbh) More confident - a little; getting there. Gained weight if you wanted to - N/A Starting to enjoy the gym - nah keep eyeing up the gym but I'd probably hate it. I may give it a short term go to tone up but it will never be me really. |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
Lost a lot of weight - yes, nearly 2.5 stone since May. And 1 stone of that is since Christmas, which is when I started experimenting with eating less.
Gained muscle - a little, although that's not the aim. Are you fitter - definitely. Slimmer - yes, new belt needed and might even fit into older clothes again! More confident - inner confidence yes, outer confidence not much so. Starting to enjoy the gym - no gym, I just try to play tennis a couple of times a week. I might try and start using my exercise bike/cross trainer for the first time in over 3 years. |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
Well done for losing weight, people!
I need to shed a third of my body weight but can't help but trot off to the kitchen for a chicken mayo and pickles sarnie. |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
I've just been on my cross trainer for the first time in probably 7 months maybe longer ! I'm going to try and eat extra veg and drink water too as I never drink any.
I don't want to loose weight I just want to feel fitter and want my body to be toned. |

Re: Dieting and exercise :)
I've been going to the gym two or three times a week since new year, doesn't seem to be doing much good though! I'm just trying to lose weight as every time I see my reflection or a full photo of myself I loathe it, and me as well. I'm so hideously overweight it's not even funny.
