I found the whole episode a bit dull. I mean all the action stuff seemed to just blur all together. Dragons, fire, ice, swords, shouting... so much action and confusion, I kept zoning out.

^It was a bit of an anti climax. I would have preferred an action sequence similar to the Kings Landing battle at the end of series 2.

Why, oh why, did Peter Dinklage not get an Emmy for this?

^He didn't win it for that performance, he was only nominated. It was for the episode "Hardhome" he got the award.

I have to admit that I've never seen Game Of Thrones as I don't have access to the necessary television channels, but is some of it filmed in Dalmatia? I seem to be surrounded by GoT souvenir shops, walking tours and a museum! I know some of it has been shot at Pembroke Castle and I'm pretty sure I heard that scenes have been done in Northern Ireland, but Dalmatia must have some connection?

I was actually speaking to a tour guide yesterday who, despite being a history professor and having a wealth of local knowledge, was turned down for a job because she hasn't watched it either (apparently she tried watching an episode and it was too bloodthirsty).

^It's clear we're no longer in the hands of a master storyteller. I feel like a mind as pedestrian as my own has been penning the last two seasons.

^^^But it's a show about white people. Sorry but it is. That was blatantly obvious from the first season. I've not read the books, I'm a casual viewer, but Westeros is loosely based on early modern/medieval Europe, and Essos is basically the Other. The most important characters are all from Westeros, and the majority of them are high-born. Other characters serve the main characters' stories. That's the genre. Fair enough if you don't like the genre for that reason. Maybe complain that a show where all the main characters are white people gets such a huge budget, but how is watching the show going to help? I guess I don't get it. If it was set in contemporary America, they would have a fair point.

Isn't the real question whether or not they chose to kill off a minor character because she was a minor character or did they kill her off because she was of mixed race? Isn't that the gist of this argument?

Are the people on here who aren't bothered about this, think it's silly, or are reluctant to try to understand the issue... white? I don't want to make assumptions, but from conversations I've seen elsewhere about this it seems to be the case 100% of the time. It's probably why they've never really noticed it happening in the entertainment they consume. If they had seen it done again and again and again to people who represent themselves then perhaps they'd be sick of it too.

No doubt this post will be followed by a white person announcing their "correct" view on the matter, no doubt with a bit of whataboutery for good measure.
OK. Actually I do see your point which of course is why movies like Black Panther are so important as a way to break through some of those barriers.

In your view is this motivated by some underhanded racism or do you think this the product of current social norms?
